Dropping in to check things out!
While I am not a powerlifter per-se.....strength is one of my goals. I need to take the time to read back though your log.
Subbing your journal.

Was bored and my roommate was going to lift, so I tagged along to spot him on benching and get a little work in. Not too shabby, I am falling in love with my traps.
Hey hey I thought we were on the same team?
But thanks.
If I had shorter shorts I would wear them lol. Adidas Striker shorts FTW!

I really liked those last 2 youtube vids man. Mirin that Super Nintendo-style text you use and the whole MN accent - brings back fond memories of college (I went to college in WI and my gf in college was from MN).
Don't know why you beat yourself up about your chin-up form so much. They looked pretty legit to me for being weighted.
And those KB C&Js are fuarkin beast too. Seriously heavy weight.Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakin' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation.

Thanks dude. Glad to see some people like them.
And I'm just used to my old workout buddy hassling me all the time about form, he was a straight up stud on the chin-up bar though LOL. Repped the 100 (when we had one) for a few, actually getting his chin over the bar. He was just a little lighter than me.
Kettlebells are f*cking awesome, but not cheap (at least they weren't last time I looked). Bought mine when I had money to throw around when I still lived at home.

FRIDAY
Ring Dips/Close-grip Chins
BWT x20 - PR as of recent
BWT x12 - dead
Might try to start some weighted soon, or not. The high reps are probably good for me, they hurt me in ways I normally don't hurt.
SATURDAY
Double Kettlebell Clean and Jerks
70s x 15 reps
70s x 10 reps
70s x 6 reps
*short rests
Kneeling Wheel Rollouts
3 sets of 15
Got it done. Gonna start doing standing rollouts soon as these are easy and I am not getting sore from them.
German crew!
Lol.......that's just not right.

Don't think I'll be hitting anything really heavy the rest of the week, I am starting to get really beat up. Probably just a little lighter than this workout on Thursday.

Short and brutal. The shrugs taxed my grip even with straps, then I decided not to use chalk for the kettlebell stuff.
My traps, shoulders, and forearms are exhausted right now though, so mission accomplished.

How does your grip get taxed with straps?
Also, nice work. I'm hoping in a couple years you and I can go head to head in the 198s or 220s. I have a lot of catching up to do!Eternal Gym Rat, Student Physical Therapist. None of my post content should be taken as medical advice. Ask your doctor/PT.

Lol I don't know. You are still gripping them to an extent, they're not hooks. Plus I squeeze the sh*t out of the bar even with straps so that probably fatigues my forearms.
Just wait until I yank 650+ at state with no grip issues
If you keep improving like you are it is bound to happen. Then we will battle. Are you doing USAPL State or are you sticking with the USPA stuff?

Ehh, I don't wanna do USAPL until I can total 1400+. Not sure why, that's just what I want. I have an AAPF meet in November coming up. I don't have anything against the USAPL, but it's a bit too mellow for me. However, you're probably the best raw natty 198 in the state, so I will compete USAPL against you.

I hear ya, I have nothing against other feds either I just don't want anything to get screwed up with the whole 14.9 nonsense since I'd like to do Nationals and maybe the raw NAPF at the Arnold sometime.
Are there any totals that beat 1531 in the past few years, tested or otherwise? I've been digging around and haven't found anything. Craig went 1503 @198 last year, and Tony Reid went like 1540 @181 in an unsanctioned meet a couple years ago I believe (and 1523 @181 USAPL I think), but that's all I know of. Going head to head against Reid would be really awesome.

Thursday, September 27th, 2:00pm
Squats (no belt)
405x5
455x5x3
*had more sets if I tried
A. Bench Press (feet on bench)
275x5
315x5x5
*sinfully ugly
B. Chins
40x5
60x5x5
*ugh
GHR Negatives
5 sets of 3
*getting so close to doing real reps
Biceps
A few random sets, I am lazy.
Never done more than 2 sets of 5 in one workout with 455/315 under any conditions, even with a belt and my feet down. Last time I tried I failed set 3 of both lifts, so this is great improvement, even if I haven't tried to do it in a while. Hopefully going to up my worksets for sets of 3 to about 485/335 from now on. Getting much closer to a 6 plate squat and 4 plate bench, so this excites me.
