Indeed, that would be in agreement with research conducted by H. Norrelund et al. (2001) whereby a fasted state would not only increase serum GH levels, but would also enhance protein conservation and would concomitantly minimize muscle-protein breakdown via the maintenance of circulating IGF-1 concentrations.

I wonder if catecholamines could play an additive role in the preservation of muscle tissue while in a fasted state. Seems like there is something to say for "paleo" diets that have a person generally skipping breakfast and getting most of their calories as a single meal in the evening. Apparently Kane from Controlled Labs tends to skip breakfast (or have a very light breakfast) and practice carb cycling.
