There is absolutely no proof that you need 1 gram per pound of bodyweight. at MOST, you need about 1 gram per kilogram of boydweight and that is only if you are on anabolic steroids since they increase your body's protein synthesis and nitrogen reuptake capabilities. The average natural bodybuilder only needs about 1 gram of protein per 3-4lbs of bodyweight. When I first started working out I made sure to eat 1 gram per pound of bodyweight. In the last few years, I have only been eating about 70 grams of protein per day (100 when im on cycle) and my gains are the same if not better.

before everyone calls you stupid...
I'll point out that Ellington Darden agrees with you... he claims calories in general, are more important than high protein.

I remember this one time when I was starting out in lifting I heard that 1 gram:1 pound ratio.
I made a diet of like 3 eggs and 3 glasses of milk per meal, and I stopped soon after due to massive protein farts.
1 gram per 4 pounds sounds feasible though

That reminds of a fascinating scientific study where it was concluded that there is absolutely no proof that you need 1 gram per pound of bodyweight. at MOST, you need about 1 gram per kilogram of boydweight and that is only if you are on anabolic steroids since they increase your body's protein synthesis and nitrogen reuptake capabilities. The average natural bodybuilder only needs about 1 gram of protein per 3-4lbs of bodyweight. When I first started working out I made sure to eat 1 gram per pound of bodyweight. It is 1g per lb of lean mass, not total bodyweight.
