I always wondered this. Do they need something to take care of? Something to cuddle? Something that needs them?
Seriously...why?

Hahaha, I think exactly the same thing and this is a theory of mine.
Men love dogs. Dogs are loyal. Men value loyalty very highly.
Women love cats (usually). Cats are selfish, self serving and love attention. Cats will manipulate and pester until they get what they want. Open the door, close the door, feed me, pet me because I'm pretty.
Women like dogs because they can control them. See the connection here?
Conclusion: Men are dogs. Women are cats.
My old man always said "women are like cats, give them some attention and they will want more".

This is interesting isnt it?
Women who are usually insecure and need to give and receive physical demonstrations of affection should be dog lovers while men who are independent, territorial and don't have the nurturing gene in them should prefer cats, but it's the other way around!
Maybe it's because we are attracted to what we would like to be? Maybe women love cats cause they're solo hunters and independant and they would like to be able to ignore the whole "connection" thing and be truely free like a cat.
And maybe guys would like to be more social and outgoing, belong to a social group like a dog pack and have the ability to abandon themselves to someone and trust them completely like dogs do.

I have one because someone decided he would make a good housewarming gift. "Oh hai. Congrats on the house. Here's a kitten with worms and intestinal problems who will **** on your floor for the next 6 months!" lulz.
I would love love loooovvvveeee to get a dog. I have the perfect house a a ton of land for a huge dog. But I'm retarded and idealize it for whatever stupid reason. I don't want to get a dog until I'm with someone I intend to spend the rest of my life with. It'd be something we do together, and the dog would be a part of the family. We'd both love him and take care of him and all that jazz, but the dude would be the dog's best friend. Not even sure it makes sense typed out, haha, but in my mind it does.

I was always a dog/horse person until a couple years ago my mom and I went to the animal shelter and there was a cat there who walked like he was drunk, so obviously he had to come home with us, and his sister did too. I just love all animals. Cats take care of themselves pretty much too as long as you feed them and change the litter box.

i used to dislike dogs cos i was scared to get bitten, but ive been followed by hundreds of them now during jogs, and they always just want to play and are so sweet so now i love dogs.
i used to like cats cos they were cute, but then i lived with one (roommate had one) which was a pretty fierce bitchy cat, don't like them much anymore. also some other cats i know of were pretty bitchy. some cats are sweet tho. i guess they all have diff personalities, like humans.

When I first began living alone I wanted an animal in the house but I worked full time then so I got a cat. Then I adopted a kitten because she was in desperate need. But then I began working from home and was able to get a dog too. I like the dog better than the cats.
The cats can look after themselves though, whereas the dog is more reliant on me, but that in turn means we interact more. We have a closer relationship than with the cats, although I don't think they restrict affection to when they're hungry. They don't even have to live here if they don't want to, they have complete freedom to come and go as they please. But they always come home.**** Atheist Alliance ****
