    size to strength

i no that you dont need to be super strong to be huge
although i was wondering how much of a role size plays in strength

lets say that someone is 175 and they gained 10 pounds of muscle so now they are 185 would there strength gains come easier from gaining the 10 pounds?

ok so do you think that it is beneficial to sometimes do mass building work outs with higher reps do try and gain some muscle or always stay in the lower rep range?

if you get stronger, and you eat enough, you gain muscle.

If all you do is train with triples on everything, and you eat enough, you will gain muscle.

Ever seen a 600lb raw bencher with small triceps? Ever seen a huge guy who couldnt lift allot?

No is the answer to both of those questions. And to be big, you do need to be able to lift allot. Bodybuilders aren't weak...

ok good info i didnt mean that bodybuilders are week i just meant that there are guys who are 50 or maybe ever 100 pounds less that can lift as much or more than a body builder

so i guess the answere is yes to get stronger you must get bigger and it will make a difference in strength if i were to gain 10 pounds of muscle

Gaining a lot of size doesn't necessary translates into a lot of strength. Otherwords, its not linear. For example, look at the difference in size & strength in bodybuilders and powerlifters. Take a 250 Pro bodybuilder and compare size to a 250 powerlifter. A huge different in size and strength. The bodybuilder is a lot bigger due to sarcoplasmic hypertrophy, but the powerlifter is a lot stronger due to Myofibrillar hypertrophy.

ok thanks for all the info guys but it seems that its a little contreversal

basically why im asking is because im 17 175 and 5 foot 9 my gains are coming but they seem to have slowed down a little right now im at about 300 bench 400 squat and about 400 dead lift (not sure about dead lift havnt maxed recently just going off the calculator for max)

so i have just noticed my gains in those slowing down a little and was wondering if i were to gain 10 pounds of muscle would it make my strength gains come a little more easly?

or is my wieght and size not going to play a big role in how fast i can gain strength?

i might just be expecting to much you see until about a month ago i was going up about 5 pounds a week in all my compound lifts so now that im getting heavier maybe i shouldnt expect to make such fast gains?

I find I get great gains if I switch to a bit higher rep range while bulking. Then when I reach the target bodyweight switch back to the low reps. You'll be lifting way more weight after a good bulk like that.

Q: Have you heard about the 20 rep squat routine?... it's spelled out in the book, Super Squats. It's a good read - available from IronMind.

Its a great program, I've personally gained 30 pounds with it in about 4 months almost pure muscle.

30lbs of almost "pure muscle" in 4 months is not possible, maybe with roids. Im sure that might help put some mass on your legs, but not to that extent

Well i was eating vary clean, i would say 5 pounds of it is fat.

The first time i did the program i gained 15 pounds after an injury and taking 6 weeks off of training so i was vary fresh.

Second time on the program i gained 10 pounds.

I'm 2 weeks in now this being the my third time on the program and I've gained about 5 pounds and I'm eating more then the last two times on the program because I'm not concerned so much with getting to much fat.

Also i tend to gain the most weight in the first 3 weeks of the program.

Eating about 4000 calories a day now.

So if we break the time down we come to:

    16 to 17 Weeks in 4 months.

    First try 6 weeks:

    Second try 6 weeks:

    Third try 2 weeks in:

Taking 10 days in between programs.

The Super Squats program is hard work, a no BS get friggin' strong program - read it and you'll see what I mean. Then get and read Dinosaur Training and the author of that book (Kubik) spells it out for you.

Squat as if your life depended on it, eat like a horse, sleep like a baby and your size & strength dreams will come true!
