12-23-2006, 10:39 PM #122What point could there be troubling
Head down wondering what will become of me
Why concern we cannot see
But no reason to abandon it
Time is short but that's all right
Maybe I'll go in the middle of the night
Take your hands from your eyes, my love
Everything must end some time
Don't burn the day away
60% of the time I rep back everytime.

depends on your pay grade. an e-1, which most people start off as, make about 160 bucks per month on drill status, minus taxes and stuff. heres a pay scale if youre interested.

dude its called, Joking. we all do it. we pick on the Air Force because they go through 6 weeks of basic, while the rest of ours is longer and also that theres is widely known to be easier than ours. but we know that they are needed. every branch of service is needed, otherwise it wouldnt exist because it wouldnt be funded anymore.
and to whatitbe. whether they joined to stick a sticker on their car or to fight for this country, they do deserve more respect than a lot of these SAC's (sorry ass civilians). either way, they went through a couple months of hell. didnt get to call off when they felt sick, didnt get to sleep in if they felt tired, didnt get to eat a snack if they were hungry. I do believe people in the service deserve more respect then the average person. call me arrogant or whatever you want, I am proud and always will be proud that I joined the United States Army Infantry instead of working some mediocre sorry ass job in the civ world. and also, where else do you get to learn how to operate the best weapons in the world, learn how to kill someone in hand to hand combat while getting paid, free housing, free utilities, free clothes, free dental/health insurance, free food. and even once basic is over, you get free health/dental, $$$ for food, free housing if you live in base. how can you beat that?Last edited by FreeBirdbulker; 12-24-2006 at 05:26 AM.

Not to mention all the tax advantages, plus loads of other benefits that don't show up on the bottom line.
WhatItBe: If I'm so poor & underpaid, explain how I managed to buy a $287,000 townhouse two years ago? (Yeah, which was just re-appraised at $344,000) And when I get underway next year, my sea/sub pay will work out to an extra $1,000/month. That's on top of gross pay exceeding $65,000 next year (30% of which will be tax free) - before even considering benefits like full health coverage.
But my time is obviously wasted on you. You've allowed yourself to be brainwashed by liberal elitists like John Kerry, so Facts don't matter in your little world. I'm always amazed when someone with no clue about the military feels they can tell me how little I'm making. . .
If your comments reflect your true feelings about life, you won't be nearly as happy as you think in the upcoming years. You're simply fixated on all the things that don't really matter.
Or you're just making asinine and insulting comments to piss people off, because you obviously don't have a clue what military pay & compensation actually is. Either way, we really don't care. My replies are simply to provide factual information to those reading the thread who actually want to learn.Last edited by nutsy54; 12-24-2006 at 08:48 PM.

Semi-bump while waiting for an actual Air Force guy to chime in
During any Basic/Boot Camp for Army, Navy, and Marines, there is no such thing as free time, let alone an entire day to frolic as you please! Every minute is structured around training.
And to repeat a previous point: What you can or can't do during a few weeks should have absolutely Zero bearing on deciding whether or not to join the military.

In Navy boot camp, we had Sunday mornings "off". 'Twas a mere technicality. . .
At noon (or whenever), we had to have the barracks inspection ready for the Company Commander. That meant the entire morning was spent cleaning and prepping Not to mention the only option for leaving the Barracks was to attend church services.
Again, I'm not Air Force. We love to beat you guys down for having it so easy - just waiting for someone on active duty to either prove or disprove this oneLast edited by nutsy54; 01-06-2007 at 01:17 PM.

1) None of which you have yourself
2) Losers that are doing something productive, and something they can look back at in 30 years and be damn proud of what they did and made a difference in the world.
3) Well...the IED's I imagine aren't fun, but they're man enough to join the military and accept the possible consequences while you're beating off in your parents house
So tell me...how exactly do military members earn respect from someone soo ****ing cool like you?
BTW - I'm not in the military myself, but I give respect when it's due.

dude, if you read YOUR entire thread, i told you a long time ago that you CAN'T lift during basic. don't listen to your recruiter.... if you are serious about joining send me a PM and i'll give you honest answers
don't worry about the meals..... you get bout 2 minutes to scarf down what you can and then you have to chug your water and then you're out

You're recruiter is try trying to sell you on the air force...that's all.
And about the meals, just scarf it down as fast as you can and save your liquids for last because they have to let you drink, they dont necessarily have to let you eat. If they look over and see that your liquids are gone, that's when they'll yell at you to get up....if you save them for last, you bought yourself a few minutes.
If you do decide to join, PM for other tips."It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great." - Tom Hanks
"If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

i cant believe this loser BIGBUBDIESEL is so hell bent on trying to workout a lifting program during basic. let me tell u bub, u will have no time to even think about lifting once you get thrown into basic with all the other maggots. either forget about lifting for 6 weeks of your pathetic life and do something that you can be proud of and is productive, or forget joining the chairforce. how ****ing hard is it pal? im sick of these dickheads pretending to want to join military branches but dont because it interfere's with their lifting programs. wait till you get out bush kid and your on mre's. ***got. im a marine but knowing the chairforce you probably gain wait in basic.
