how to do dips/chin ups weighted without belt weight?

Hello, I was wondering how to do weighted dips/chinups without a weight belt? that is, I can't figure out how to put the dumbbell or weights between the legs at the beginning.

I put a weight plate between my leg. Somtimes I get to the dip station, then ask someone to put the plate between my leg, or I'll do it myself.

get a step or some platform, set it back from your dip bars about 8 inches, stand a dumbbell on its side so one plate is on the step, the other plate is in the air,
tuck your feet in around the bar of the db, you that the bar is between ankles or just above, you should be in a stretched deep dip position, push your self forward off the step and into a Dip and do your dips.

Most people put a db between their ankles. I would recommend making an investment in a dip/chin belt. They are not very expensive. One of the best investments you will ever make for strength training.

Ditto. Eventually you'll come a point where you'll be using so much weight you just won't be able to hold it between your legs/won't have dumbells high enough. $15 and one of the best investments I've made.

    Take a db.

    Put it on your waist.

Put your weight belt on over it.

    Viola. Done.

Nope. I'm only using 100lbs on my triceps dips. I do upper body or lower body workouts so by the time I get to triceps dips, I pretty fatigued. My numbers are climbing but just gradually. Have you made modifications on yours?

I actually switched from using the belt to using the db between my ankles, I find it requires me to control the weight more, and I get a nice little hammy work out with it.

    a couple options:
    - a heavy duty rubber band, wear it over both shoulders with a plate in the middle of it behind your back hanging
    - a martial arts belt secured around your torso with a plate hanging between legs

if dip station is wide enough between handles, shift your body weight slightly to one side, adding resistance to that one arm. And then shift to the other side. You can control the weight by the amount of shifting. no perfect but works.

Make a belt from a 3 or 4 foot lifting strap, chain and 2 carabiners. Don't buy a cheap belt because they break. Cheap chains also snap.
