    John Inzer

You know him from Inzer Advance designs. Powerlifting equipment. But he was also a great deadlifter in the 165 class with 780. I was wondering if anybody had any information on his deadlift routine or his powerlifting history. Thanks.

LOL. guess you're going to say Andy Bolton's 1000 is with fake plates, and that my #4 close was done after heating the spring for 5 minutes!

John Inzers 744 (I think it may have been 765. I'm old and can't remember, no disrespect intended) was pulled at the "Deadliest Deadlift in Texas" and I believe it was an exhibition.

There were fireworks and he wore silver boots, etc.

There were rumors that he would not let people near the plates. I also believe it may have been on a different bar than the meet bar. (Not sure though)

But, even with the "rumors" around that lift, there is no question that John did freaky heavy deadlifts in full meets on real sets in front of judges.

I wasn't there and don't personally pay much attention to rumors. Just thought you should know what Randall was talking about before he got ripped apart.

I know what you are saying Randall. It was cleared up. But I wish there was more info on some of the past greats of this sport. You cant find anything on half of them if that. It is pretty sad.

Yep, the great John Inzer a 165 pound texan pulled a world record deadlift of 780lbs.
Another great old time lifter was Bob Peoples who in the late 1940's pulled 725 pounds at a dainty 178 pounds of bodyweight.

Check some back issues of PowerliftingUSA. There was an article with John's routine in it. I think it was sometime last year...not sure of the issue it was in.

My coach has been around this sport since day one..He has seen Inzer DL 705lbs in the 80's and said it was legit...he didnt see the 780 but heard from those who were there that inzer used his own plates.

That rumor started the day after he pulled it. I know a few guys from that era and most agree it seemed fishy. It is hard to believe. Regardless he was a hell of a deadlifter.
