Did you guys know that when Franco was training him for Rocky II (or III, I'd have to look it up) he challenged him to a benching contest...
Well, this is how Sly tore his pec. I read his own account of it in his mag that he published a year or two ago.

It's in his book. Just stop in at a Barnes and Noble and flip through it. He talks about how Columbu ate tons and tons of yogurt, and Stallone tried the same thing, and all it did was make him feel fat and bloated

That's weird too because Franco isn't a big fan of dairy. He even makes statements against yogurt in his nutrition book.

you might want to read his book sly moves, he tells about all the crazy and harmful techniques he used in his earlier years of body building and how he had progressed... this is also his program to lose weight, build strength.....
I really enjoyed the book it has some helpful tips for men and women alike.

I think you're being sarcastic here, but Sly HATED Arnold, they hated each other. Arnold talks about their feud in his biography. While Arnie was making a couple grand off Conan, Sly was raking in millions from Rocky. And the people loved Sly over Arnie.

Arnold used his fabled charm to get to Sly, even went so far as to insult his x-wife or fiance or whatever.

And as far as steroids, about 98 percent of people respond fairly and visually well to steroids if there diet and training is in check. If you dont believe me go to the steroid section and they will confirm this.

I think it's important to see the evolution of his physique. In the 2006 pic, he is 59 and looking incredible and in the best shape of his life (exept in Rambo 3). There is no actors around with a physique like his and he is nearly 60. During the 80's, there was Arnold, Stallone, maybe Van Damme. Now, no one exept Stallone keeping truckin' (Maybe John Cena). Way to go Sly.. you're the man.

Also consider this however; Rocky I and II were made between 74 and 79 which would coincide with the Golden era and Arnolds time. But in the first two Rocky's he wasnt all that developed and lean if you recall. If he used aas it most likely would have been for rocky III or IV where he appeared in much better shape then the first two. But these movies were made later and why would he use them years after hanging around with Arnold. I guess Im saying the time he is claimed to be hanging out with the oldschoolers he also looked the worse, which isnt a great case for the use of aas.

For the sake of civil debate, I have to ask some questions and continue the debate here. First, I am not accusing Sly of taking steroids. I am saying that it is obvious that he is on some kind of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), which is quite legal and is under the supervision of a competent physician. Given that, why do some people here think that it is so far-fetched that Sly is on HRT? HRT is not anything like what the pro bodybuilders take, as far as volume, variety and risk. BTW, I am a fan of Sly’s and I fully support anyone 40+ that wants to live a better life and that uses legal means to excel.

Let’s look at it more pragmatically. Take a man (Sly) who is rich, and who has been an athlete most of his life, and who is heavily into nutrition – and who’s livelihood depends upon public perception. At the same time, like everyone else, he is aging. Why would he NOT participate in HRT? Look at some of the latest photos of a man that is 60 years old and ripped. Frank Zane is on HRT and he readily admits it (source below in link).

My whole point is that taking steroids like the pros and HRT are not the same. Most of the pros don’t have doctors advising them. People on HRT do. The use of steroids like the pros is illegal (just a fact). HRT is legal and legitimate. Nothing is wrong about being on HRT. Personally, I am all for it.

So please don’t make this an accusatory argument, because it is not. Also, please don’t see this as dissing Sly. Again, I am a fan of Sly’s and I fully support anyone 40+ that wants to live a better life and that uses legal means to excel.

He’s got a hell of a physique though! I agree that it’d be awesome to have his Rambo physique, with some bigger wheels of course. I sure as hell wouldn’t go as far as saying that his genetics were **** though. If you want to see **** genetics, go walk around on the street and poke fun at some fat ass. Sly worked hard and while he wasn’t perfect or God-like, he sure as hell wasn’t born with the ****-end of the stick either.

I’m sure that he’s juiced too. How could he have not? He’s a huge fitness buff and was saturated with BB’ers who popped and pricked themselves like it was going out of fashion. He probably didn’t take it to the extent that others did and possibly didn’t respond as well, but I’m sure he has at one point. Not that it really matters enough to debate over….

"We worked out in Franco's single-car garage in Santa Monica. It was the oddest place, mainly beacuse he had this pet, a hostile one-winged own. As we'd work out, the bird would glare at me, intermittenly flapping that lonely wing, as if to say "get out." Franco was from the old school of "ground and pound" workouts. Down and dirty, nothing glamourous. But I followed his every move, 100 percent. That included a diet of yogurt, yogurt, and, for dessert, a little more yogurt!

The problem was, the more yogurt I ate, the slower and bulkier I got- just the opposite of my hope for a more defined character. Maybe my bones were getting stronger, but I was so bloated I felt like I'd be going the same route as the Hindenburg. If you'd lit a match, I would have gone up in a fireball.

At the end of one of our intesely competitive lifting sessions, Franco challenged me to a bench-pressing contest. Like an idiot, I accapted. Remeber, this is a man who runs tih a bone-crushing, 600-pound sand filled regrigerator on his back for amusement.

But since we were a month away from shooting the movie, I thought what the hell: 250, 275, 300, 315, 330 pounds. This is when your male ego should be removed from your head and left in a drawer at home. Franco Colombu to this day is considered, a pound for pound, maybe the strongest bodybuilder of all time. Did I asked to be excused? Did I say i'm late for a doctor's appointment? No, I tried to beat him. So I pushed with all I had!

Bang! My pectoralis major exploded! The muscle anchored to the ribs that holds the arm in place sufered a massive tear during the lift. Tumbling off the bench, I collapsed onto my right shoulder and started in disbelief as the ripped veins in my right arm turned my arm nearly black and double it's size. I'm writhing on the floor, cursing my luck, trying not to black out. Maybe I was hallucinating, but I swear I could see the single-winged owl smiling and trying deperatly to clap.
