Arrow Will Jay retire if he loses again?

I think that Jay will not be able to handle another defeat.
It will seriously affect his pride, which is understandable.
I could imagine that if he should lose again he'll complain about the results and then maybe say that he'll not compete at the Mr.O anymore. What do you think?
I don't think Jay wants to be no.2 as long as Ronnie competes and then when Ronnie retires become no.1. Even if this worked, which isn't even sure it wouldn't make him happy. He would always feel like he's not the real champ.

He'll sooner retire with a 3rd place trophy then he would with a 1st or second place trophy.

How old is Jay? Do you think he could go on for a few more years?
I don't think Jay will be competing as long as Ronnie, he's too smart to do that.

Hard to say... But hypothetically if ronnie wins agian (which is probable) I would guess that Ronnie would most likely retire... maybe not, maybe he'd go for an even 10 but that would have to be pushing it I would think. But if Ronnie were to retire I would think that Jay would too. There are to many other up and coming stars, mostly Phil Heath, and Branch Warren, and possibly even Victor Martinez, and Jay knows this. If he can't take out the king this year then I would guess that it's a high probability that he'll hank up the trunks.

Nah jays got at least 2 years left, and if he eventually takes the O, I think he'll continue even longer.

I think coleman will go for 10. Then when he retires cutler will end up stillcoming in second. It'll be like when Ronnie won his first O. Everyone thought Flex was gonna get it then came the man beast known as Ronnie and the rest is history.

Jay just turned 33 while ronnie is 42. Jay is still younger than ronnie when ronnie won his first Mr O.

I think Jay will stick it out until Ronnie retires, and he if still can't get a sandow, then I'm pretty sure that will be the last straw for him.

Trust me, JC is doing just fine. He'll will continue BB'ing until he's good and ready to retire. You don't know **** about this pride, he's doing just fine thank you! Complain? He doesn't complain, he's disappointed in not winning, but complaining? Again, you don't know what you are talking about.

I don't think he has a reason to retire. He's still making improvements in his physique. When that stops, then I think he'll need to start talking retirement. The gap between Ronnie and Jay gets smaller and smaller every year. One thing that bodybuilding teaches you is to not give up. You've got to break through the barriers to get where you want to be. If Jay was a quitter, he wouldn't be where he is today.

If Ronnie retires this year why would Jay? Like mentioned, Ronnie won his first Olympia at an older age than Jay is now. Jay is still young (33) Jay can go on for a few more years and if Ronnie Leaves...I think he will be the one dominating the scene even if it is for a year. Yeah...there are up and coming bodybuilders, but they aren't up to Jay's level YET IMO. The only thing Jay can't do is wait around because then those up and comers will take him over...but for the near future (meaning 07 Mr. O)...Jay will have them hands down if Ronnie leaves IMO.

If he doesn't win the olympia this year do you think he would consider doing the Arnold in 07 and skipping the Olympia in 07 especially if Ronnie is competing?

I think he is thinking about doing the arnold again however only time will tell.

    All true!

Jay is also pragmatic. IMO Jay is about business first and the Mr. O after. Being Mr. O will make him more money. If there comes a time when chasing the Mr. O crown costs him more money than not chasing it, I think Jay would get rid of those trunks faster that I would in a room alone with Salma Hayek.

That being said, he works the uncrowned Mr. O thing a lot and I'm sure he factors all that into the equation.

Jay is not a quitter, Jay is not scared, Jay appears to be about BB success as a means to personal success.

I don't think Jay will quit because he got his feelings hurt. I think he will retire when it is his best interest to do so.

Jay would never ever retire in a million years because he knows Ronnie will retire first, lol.....if you finished second to a guy a lot of times and the guy was 42ish, would YOU retire???

heck no, cuz you know when the older guy retires you will most likely inherit the throne

Jay is too young and has too much to loose to thinking about retiring now.
Ronnie will retire in couple of years max.
Unless Jay is overtaken by someone else, he has the best shot at winning a sandow or two.
And it will be a great boost for his recognition and business as well.

I wish he'd stick around for at least 4-5 more years... it'll be sad to see both Ronnie and Jay gone..

I think the ones who should consider retiring should be likes of Chris Cormier, King Kamali, and few others.

Chris should have focused more on his bodybuilding over the years, he deserved better.. but he's been in the game too long and his body will get tired sooner or later... and with his injury and chronic back problem, he should take care of his body really...
And King... just.... I don't want to see him competing at all... He should enter wrestling or something and make much more money that way doing what he does best...

    Only my opinion...

Jay knows he can beat Ronnie - he did in 2001, but they still gave it to Big Ron. Ronnie will more than likely go for 10 and walk away. That means Jay wins his first Olympia at 35. Or does he? In two years Phil Heath is going to be out of the world. The window for Jay is closing - and he knows it. In fact, this year may be his best shot with all the improvements he's made to his back.

Jay nailed it in 2001 for sure, but he has improved from what I have seen this year, and thats whats important.

The guys a legend in my book. He will continue to go for the O for as long as it takes to get it, or he is no longer competitive, which ever comes first.

He will remain competitive for many more years and good luck to him. He might be second best to Ronnie most of the time, but Jay is a tiger with the power of a liger

Didn't Jay get disqualified in 2001 because of using diuretics?

I believe that's when they tried to implement drug testing. They tried to take away Jay's second place, but he was going to challenge it in court. My guess is the IFBB didn't want to air their dirty laundry.
