most 45lbs, but some of the barbells for heavy squating are 55lb. EZ-bars are 25lb

If it's a barbell that came with a typical 300 lb olympic set it could easily weigh closer to 40 lbs.

The high quality bars from from top quality outfits like Eleiko, Ivanko, York and several others are 20 kilos or 44lbs rounded off to 45lbs by users. I got a standard bench press from AMART and the barbell is only 6kg (13.2 pounds) and roughly 5' to 5 & 1/2 foot long.
I had no idea barbells came in different shapes and sizes until now.
I have been loading 70kg (154 pounds) onto this thing, do you reckon this is safe? What do u reckon the loading capacity is on my existing barbell? (I bought it 2 years ago, don't have any of the documentation. Brand is Weiider.Last edited by Ripped_carnt; 09-20-2006 at 04:20 PM.
