no you dont, maybe hes got his workout set out straight....just needs to know how many times a week you need to train to be improving.

yes. 3 times a week is enough, you can see improvments from this, i would recomend atleast 4 times a week tho. monday, tuesday, thursday, friday, or if you go out friday, miss it and make up for it on sunday.

i personaly do it like this, monday-arms tuesday-legs& back.
and the same kinda thing for thursday friday. but im sure you know all about that.

    best of luck.

you shouldnt combine any 2 main muscle groups on one day if you are splitting your workout....your main muscle groups are Legs, Chest, and Back...never combine any of those together on one day and youll be fine.

3 times a week is good depending on what your split looks like. Usually people do a whole body routine 3x a week when they do that (i'll be doing this in 3 weeks). Alot of times for beginners i would recommend a 5 day split such as:

    mon-chest
    tue-shoulders
    wed-back
    thu-legs
    fri-arms

you can pretty much switch it up, theres a lot of different tricks you can do to your routine. But depending on intensity (should be high for a 3 a week program) you should be ok.
