Hey all, after a few years of lifting but doing no cardio and having a sedentary job, I decided to mix in some running.
I was worried about strength loss, but I also was to cut some body fat and lower my blood pressure. (last reading 138/74)
So, for the past couple of weeks, I've been running a mile every other day or so. Sunday, I kicked it up a notch and ran 2 miles. I've also been stretching more. All running has been outdoors.
So my deadlift has gone up for the first time in a while from a max of 415 to 435.
A few months ago, I hit a 360 squat, but haven't come close to that in a while. I have been having trouble with anything over 300. Well, yesterday, I doubled 315 like it was nothing. Also, I'm not sore today for the first time after squatting in months! I really think that this cardio is helping loosen up my hips and actually helping my strength. I think it has to do with pushing myself. Running is hard for me (getting easier).
