    !

yeah, i have the same clicking and popping from time to time. my shoulder is the more painful. sometimes on chest day it gives me troubles but sometimes i can take it out of the equation with focused form. screw surgery, i still make gains in the weight room. i take a glucosamine and MSM product called Joint Boost. i don't really know if it does anything for me. i heard that if you buy a product for joint support that has collagen hydrolysate, you are better off than just glucosamine and MSM.

    Swollen knee after sports

After a couple minutes of running my Knee starts to hurt and swells like a football. I've had an ACL reconstruction and the doctor said a touch of arthritis......I'm looking for a supplement to at least minimize this effect and ideas as to what would work best?

This synergistic blend is designed to create an environment within the body to help promote joint health and comfort.* The generous amounts of glucosamine, MSM, vitamin B5, and vitamin B6 promote healthy joint structure and fluidity, while phellodendron amurense bark extract specifically addresses joint discomfort.* The proprietary aqueous delivery system used to administer Flex provides increased absorption for maximum effectiveness.

    Bio-Available Nutrients:
    · Vitamin B6
    · Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5)
    · Glucosamine Sulfate
    · Methyl-sulfonyl-methane (MSM)
    · Phellodendron Amurense

The Science Behind Body Support Flex

    Vitamin B5 and B6

These B vitamins have been indicated in research trials as possibly playing a role in the promotion of joint health.* Specifically, vitamin B6 has been shown in research to help promote the health of the synovium, a sheath of tissue that surrounds tendons at joints.* It is also essential to the maintenance of hyaluronic acid, the lubricant inside of joints, especially the wrist.* In addition, vitamin B6 helps to stimulate the body’s production of cortisone, a natural substance that can impact the effects of swelling.*
Glucosamine is formed when glucose combines with an amino acid. It is a building block for cartilage. Glucosamine sulfate is a form of glucosamine that has some extremely beneficial implications, especially when used to promote the health of connective tissue.* Glucosamine sulfate is a small and simple molecular building block used for building cartilage and lubricating joints.

    Glucosamine Sulfate

According to convincing research, glucosamine sulfate plays a role in body repair as well as cartilage building.* By providing joints with the essential raw materials, glucosamine sulfate can help promote cartilage health.* Research shows that it is absorbed into the body much more effectively than other "joint healers." Due to their small size, its molecules, are absorbed at a rate of 98%. When comparing the mere 13% absorption rate of chondroitin sulfate, one can understand why glucosamine sulfate works so well. By stimulating the production of additional synovial fluid, studies show that glucosamine sulfate helps keep joints in the body functioning smoothly.*

Most studies show that supplementing a balanced diet with 500 milligrams three times a day is very effective. A daily serving of Flex provides a generous 2 grams of glucosamine sulfate. There have been no reported cases of toxicity associated with proper dosages of glucosamine sulfate.

    Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane (MSM)

Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane (MSM) is organic sulfur. It is found in the fluid and tissues of all living organisms. It is also present in a variety of raw foods but is easily lost during moderate food processing. MSM is drastically depleted in foods that have been stored during shipping, refrigerated, or cooked. MSM bonds with moisture and is carried away when dehydration occurs.

In the body, MSM is used to repair damaged cells and to promote growth of healthy new cells.* MSM also makes cell walls more permeable, allowing waste materials to pass through them.*

MSM is an important cell builder and binder of soft tissues in the body. Sulfur has a vital relationship to protein and is found in essential amino acids such as methionine and cystine. It is necessary for collagen synthesis, a vital component in both the skin and the bones, where it knits the minerals together and gives flexibility to them.* It is also important in carbohydrate metabolism.

    Phellodendron Amurense Bark Extract

Phellodendron amurense bark extract is derived from a common North American deciduous tree. This extract has been indicated to possess properties that may impact redness, swelling, and heat in joint structures.* This characteristic is in relation to a specific enzyme in the body.

    Cyclooxygenase (COX)

Cyclooxygenase (COX) is an enzyme naturally present in our bodies. Scientists have discovered there are two forms of the COX enzyme:

COX-1 is produced widely throughout the body and is involved in the regulation of day-to-day cellular and metabolic activities, such as maintaining stomach lining integrity, regulating blood flow within the kidneys, and balancing platelet function. COX-1 is always present in the body and should not be inhibited.
COX-2 is an enzyme that is necessary for inducing pain. Ideally, the COX-2 enzyme is present in our bodies on a limited basis; however, factors such as diet, trauma, and injury can influence COX-2 production. When COX-2 is produced on a continual basis, constant pain ensues. Therefore, inhibiting COX-2 is an option for muscle and joint discomfort management.*
Phellodendron amurense bark extract has been indicated in research trials to specifically inhibit the action of COX-2,* a natural COX-2 inhibitor. Phellodendron amurense bark extract may have a large impact on body processes involved in how we experience discomfort.*

    Joint Care Formula

Enzymes have been known for years to be effective in aiding the body to properly use the nutrients provided in food and other supplements. This is particularly helpful with regard to proper digestion. Equally as important, but not nearly as well known, is the fact that enzymes play a critical role in promoting healthy joints and a healthy response to body inflammation.

Research shows that, in addition to other factors, joint pain and gout stem from undigested proteins and fats which form uric acid crystals that, in turn, get "caught" in joints. Enzymes stimulate the healthy production of cytokines that stop inflammation. They also aid the body in cleaning up undigested food, debris and circulating immune complexes which cause joints to become irritated and swell.

Eniva’s Joint-Zyme is a nutritional enzyme support formula, containing specific nutritional components shown in clinical studies to support the normal and healthy function of joints and overall body health.* By helping keep the body free from inflammation, natural healing and normal joint health can be achieved.*

I've been using Blue Bonnet's MSM+Glucosamine+celadrin. A bit of extra MSM from Solaray and hyalluronic acid from Solaray also. I've also found that Omega 3s are fantastic for my joints.

    update: Flax seed oil

Flax seed oil seems to be doing the trick for my noisy/week knees. I had tried G/C in the form of osteo biflex, but apparently that wasn't what my body was crying out for. The flax seed oil that I have been using I got at walmart, it's the bottled liquid oil. It is disgusting, and I've only used it probably 3 or 4 times, but man did it do the trick. Infact, I'd say after the first 2-3 days my knees weren't popping and cracking any more. This stuff is great, but be forewarned...it ain't pleasant I suppose I could just go with the pills, but from what I've read the oil form is something like 14 times more effective than the pill form. I just pour a teaspoon in about a shot glass full of water, plug my nose and shoot it down You'll want to do this RIGHT BEFORE you eat or you'll be tasting/belching this stuff for hours.

Last year I had to have an arthroscopy for my left knee where I had 80% of my medial meniscus removed, and a torn ACL diagnosed. At that point I started taking 'Herb Valley' Glucosamine sulphate tablets (1000mg glucosamine) - comes in a pack of 200 and fairly cheap.
Then had ACL reconstrucion a few weeks later, now my left knee is fine.

Couple of weeks ago though my right knee started feeling a bit like thee was some crud in there, and it 'popped' while kneeling on it (and not in the gym). Having an arthroscopy on this one tomorrow - looks like I've torn the Medial mesiscus on this side too (but knee itself is fine).

So, I can't say if this stuff works or not.

Now, I take cod liver oil (to help with depression), and this is retty aweful stuff as well. I mix it in a shotglass of milk - and follow it up with another shotglass of plain milk. Taste tends not to rebound on me then.

You know Ive tried a few different Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM products. They all work fairly well. I tried a different product for an entirely different reason recently and found it to eliminate any joint pain I had before.

I bought some New Zealand deer velvet antler capsules for GH benefits. I take them at night. I havent took any joint supps for a few months now. I had been botherd by pain in knees, hips, lower back from overlifting, bad mechanics when I was young and dumb. I read into it more and found this supplement is given to animals with joint/bone weakness problems. I wont buy another joint supplement as long as this works like it does. I mean no signs of pain at all. I buy it off ebay for about $25 total. I dont know if the GH properties of deer antler are legit but the joint healing ones I swear by

Thumbs up Best Joint Product on the Market - MultiFlex

This stuff is awesome. It has Phanstil glucosamine which is a pharmaceutical grade that is 3Xs as potent as regular glucosamine. It is also micronized for greater absorption. This product is also an anti-inflamatory and you will notice that the pain is gone right away. The best thing in this product is the Green Lipped Muscle. It is more effective that glucosamine and it helps to repair the cartilage and it restores the sonovial fluid that sourrounds the joint. All the info on MultiFlex is on the body building site. It is a little more money that most of the garbage out there but I think it is the best joint product on the market. Most importantly - you will notice a difference.

I shall stop spamming the board! NOW!

Hmmm...let me think; AdvoCare's "Joint Promotion".This product provides an ample amount of Glucosamine (1500mg). Glucosamine is a form of amino sugar that plays a role in cartilage formation and repair. It is an essential building block used as an intermediate substrate in production of cartilage. This also acts as a stimulus to the cells that produce proteoglycans. Joint Promotion also provides gotu kola (100mg) and Studies indicate that it exhibits properties of immune system support, anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidant activity as well as providing support for production of collagen and cartilage. Gotu kola is traditionally employed as a brain tonic for promoting memory, relieving anxiety, promoting relaxation and a positive mood. It is also shown to exhibit positive results on learning and memory. It also has MSM which provides support for the immune system and aids in sulfur metabolism, particularly in connective tissue; and Manganese is also necessary for the activation of enzymes associate with fat, protein, carbohydrate and urea metabolism. AdvoCare products are all I use and would recomend them to everyone. From a person just starting out in a new workout regime to a person that has been active for many years, but are looking for something more. I stand behind the products.

It really depends on the nature of the joint pain. I have a bum shoulder , gluc/chon supps help somewhat but Cissus is the most effective for my issue. Others have great success with gluc/chon supps.
