For years I mixed my protein shake with water, then I read you should do it with milk?
I'm a bulking bodybuilder so what should I be doing? Is it true milk slows down protein synthesis?

i always mix 50/50 water and skim milk in my shake.. usually anywhere from 4-8oz. each. i have no scienific proof whether this is better or not, i mainly do it for taste cuz an all water shake is too thin and all milk is too thick IMO. AND the amount of milk used is too small to make a difference to me really.

i mix it in unsweetened soy milk. the taste of the protein shake sweetens the soy, and the soy thickens the protein shake.
also, i read somewhere that mixing whey and soy protein is a good idea...Disregard Everything, Acquire Aesthetics Crew

Having your shake with skim milk post workout is definitely the way to go. Skim milk is mostly casein which is very anticatabolic meaning it stops protein breakdown, while whey is very good at increasing protein synthesis. Milk is also very insulinogenic, and has many other helpful growth factors. The whole theory of milk slowing down whey has never been proven as far as I know, and it really doesn't make any sense, the whey will not curd up with the casein.
