good idea!
Sweet... I just found the thread. Great idea! I always go low-fat, with grams of 1.5/4/13 (f/c/p) per 1/2 cup. GOTTA have some fruit though... can't beat that waking up early... or on a hot day!!

Makes a good ranch dip too.
16 oz container CC
1 packet ranch dip dressing mix, intended to mix w/16 oz sour cream or mayo
Blend. It comes out smooth, but rather thick. Add a bit of buttermilk to smooth it out even more and for that extra bit of taste. Makes a great pre-bed snack with veggies to dip.

Takes a little while, you might fill up on veggies before you finish a cup. Maybe have some hard boiled eggs with it on the side or something.

Mmmm. Guys. I have to tell you. Russia is a King of Cottoge cheese. We call CC slightly differetn substunce. it is not liquid (most of types). Clasical CC is plain - it has NO taste to it. We like it sweet. Put some sugar, raisins or other dried fruits in it. Per 100 gr of CC there is 35 gr. of protein!!!
But I never vould find this type in USA. And when I eat yours it is so salty, I just can't stand it =(

Yea i agree ou cottage cheese is infested with salt. i wish they didnt put so much on it but meh and wow thats alot of protein!! Your lucky!!

Well, I am personally not so lucky, since I'mnot in Russia anymore... By the way I saw on this forum recipie how to make your own cottoge cheese. It's not salty I suppose. But ine would have to buy a LOT of milk to make it. It's cheaper to buy casein...
Somebody knows, why they put so much salt on it here?

CC is nasty but I still eat it just for the proteins just like I eat tuna. Tuna's even more nasty to me but thats why I mix it up with jelly haha. I get my CC from Sam's Club pretty cheap. But I also noticed that if you leave CC even in the fridge long enough, it becomes spoiled. Why is it that a lot of protein foods are nasty. I wished strawberry cheescake was all proteins haha.

Is it better to eat the juice that accumulates with the curds after a couple days in the fridge, or drain it?

I've never had CC in liquid form. Do you than just drink it as a shake and even add protein powder to it. How do you make it turn liquid? Just put it in a blender?

splenda mocha flavor
Throw some frozen blueberries and cut up strawberries in, alittle vanilla extract, and a a couple of splenda mocha flavors and maybe an additional splenda....its absolutely delicious! Never knew cottage cheese could taste as good as ice cream.

What are some good recipes that use chocolate whey and/or peanut butter with cottage cheese?
I just mixed up a batch of cottage cheese with some diced apples, cinnamon, dash of sugar and vanilla extract. I just started eating it in front of the tv and before I knew it I had almost half the bowl gone; and I'm not a big fan of CC myself. This was some good stuff though.

I've been putting vanilla extract in my cc and just recently realized that it contains alcohol......no more for me, just cinnamon or whey (depending on how much ive eaten before that meal)

Is there a brand of cottage cheese that has lower sodium? All of the ones that my grocery store carry have between 450-500 mg of sodium per 1/2 cup. Which is 40% of your daily sodium when I eat a cup of it!

WOW...... and to think that i was about to post a cottage cheese thread........ i just ate some non-fat cottage cheese by "friendship" and i acually like the taste........ ive been mixing it with tuna as a replacement for mayo (which i hate anyway) and suprisingly enough its really good..... TRY IT

for all you people saying cottage cheese is disgusting. Buy Breakstone's or Cabot not the store brands. There is a huge difference. If you try breakstone's and still think its disgusting.. there is no hope for you as a cottage cheese eater.. at least not a non-bastardized version of one anyways.. :-P

I'm lucky because I love the taste of it plain. Just add a little pepper and I'm good. I will have to try this natural peanut butter though, sounds disgusting but a lot seem to like it!

I agree with the plain cc eaters: HEAVEN!! I love it with fresh peaches, canteloupe, pineapple.... Hooray for you're "ice cream" recipies: ice cream is the bane of my existence, and hooray for healthy substitute!

I made my own recipe tonight. I got a cup of cottage cheese, half a scoop of strawberry whey, just to change the taste and sweeten it up a little. I also got a couple of strawberries as well and cut them real good and mixed it all together and it tasted pretty good.
