in the era of today,s mass monsters i think lee haney was the milestone of aesthetical built bodies to mass monster (with small waist and huge back and chest )apart from that shwan ray and lee labrada
really had beautiful bodies
i think shwan ray is the most aesthetical built bodybuilder of all time
i want your opinions about this
please tell me who is your favourite bodybuilder(aesthetical)

For a beautiful body, I have to say Flex.

For an amazing combination of mass and shape, I've got to say Kevin.

And for an ungodly hybrid of other worldly mass, and impossible shape, it's got to be KING COLEMAN. The man is not the king because of his size alone. He isn't the biggest man onstage. He is the king because his overall package is far superior.

For the sake of pro bodybuilding and pro bodybuilders, I hope that once Ronnie retires the IFBB starts promoting the smaller guys, like Vic and Melvin. However, although Big Ron has a different type of physique than the "aesthetic guys", his shape compares well with theirs.

Flex before he got bloated, I liked him a lot better in the 240 range. Kevin between 94 and 97, amazing shape and size. And of course Vince Taylor...

For today, I'd say maybe an in-shape Cormier, Dexter, Melvin, Darrem.

shawn. he was perfectly proportioned and had very few weaknesses. kevin was the best combination of size and aesthetics, but for simple aesthetics and proportion, i cant go past shawn. flex just never really did it for me - and his blatant synthol use just seemed to get out of control towards the end of his career. labrada was another who had an oustanding and proportionate physique. nowdays, id go for cormier in top condition, but again, like kev, prob more a combo of size and shape. dexter is good, but also i feel has far more flaws than shawn ever did, but i really like dugdale and jaroslav horvath - great lines, and solid all over..

We have to distinguish between aesthetic and good shape. Aesthetic in bodybuilding is pleasing to the eye. So we tend to describe traits of aesthetic bodybuilders as flowing, symmetrical, etc. Ronnie has these traits. However, with the coming of the mass monsters, we have decided that "aesthetic" should also include a limit on size.

From top to bottom, with the exception of his abs and calves, Ronnie has some of the best shaped muscles in the game. His traps from the front and back. His chest. His wide and complete delts. His back, with it's thickness, roundess (especially in the lower lats), low insertions and fine details. His arms, which are just out of this world. His obliques taper into his hips, which is actually a big failing point on a lot of pros, most noticeable on Gunther. His hips are small for his size, which can't be said of guys like Jay. His ridiculous thighs, whose sweep start from his hips. I understand you hate the gut, and consider him too big to be aesthetic, but his shape really is unparalled. I cannot think of another pro with as complete a package as Coleman.

Speaking of the gut, I'm sure you realize that many of the top guys look just like that when they don't have it sucked in. However, when they are hitting poses, they suck it in tight, and Big Ron is no exception. I don't think you can take away the title from such a complete package, simply because he has a big gut, considering that his closest competitors have exactly the same problem.

Like I said, for the sake of pro bb and the guys who compete, I hope that the trend moves towards more healthy practises once Big Ron's time is over, but until he is gone you have to give him his due.

I misinterpreted your original post. The thread was asking about the most aesthetically built, I assumed that you were inferring Ronnie was. You bring up several valid points, however you are more or less highlighting good points on one individual (Ronnie). This thread however is intended towards the most aesthetic in history, not simly analyzing one man.

Arnold has said in numerous different places that one of the central ideas of bodybuilding is take make the waist appear small compared to everything else. This among other things definatly contributes towards the aesthetic look. Ronnie does not have this, in fact he is porolly the farthest from the small wasit taper look of any past Olympia champ.

I will give it to you that Ronnie prolly has the greast quad shape and potential in history. But seriously, his calves lag way to far behind, when I look at him in certain shots the lagging calves are so bad it literally looks like he is ready to fall over or is on stilts from the knees down.

Ronnie may lead in certain areas such as bicep split, quad sweep, and back detail. But in my opinion the shortfalls like terible abdominal area and poor calves are severe enough to the overall physique where he could never be called the most aesthetic in history.

Guys liek Flex and Zane had great tapers, abdominal areas, and aesthetics. You could look at every angle on these guys and everything fit well and looked great with eachother.

Im not gonna say which one is better, because imo neither one pulls ahead without a doubt. Ronnies upper lats appear to come out slightly more then Dorians, but dorians seem to have a lower insertion which helps alot.

When you look at Ron's waist compared to everything else, it's fine. The guy is almost 300 lbs. in contest shape. He is NOT going to have an absolutely small waist, but relative to the rest of his massiveness, the waist is in proportion.

I definitely agree that Arnold and Haney had much tighter midsections. But again, Ron is a big guy, and they were from a different era. And of course, in those pics, Arnold and Lee are posing, and Ron is relaxed. Relaxed shots really are worthless when critisizing a guy for his gut.

In this era, you can't take away the title from an otherwise dominant man simply because of the gut, because like I said, his closest competitors ALL possess the same gut. Hopefully the IFBB forces athletes to scale it down by rewarding the smaller guys, but again, like I said, as long as Ron is around he deserves the O.

As for the calves, yes I agree they are too small. But apparantly they aren't small enough for the judges to give the Olympia to someone else.

I think what it comes down to is that you don't like the mass physiques, which is totally understandable. Flex had a totally different look, as did Frank to an ever greater degree. But I hope that after this discussion you can understand why Ron is Mr. Olympia, even though you think he's too big.
