Vision supplements?

My vision's pretty important to me, so I started researching supplements for it. I decided that the best option would just be to get a good multivitamin. Does anyone else have experience with this?

Right now I'm taking whey, fish oil, and Natrol My Favorite Multiple Iron-Free

That's it, except mine doesn't have iron.

Does anyone have any ideas for additions to this (for my eyes), or any experience with eye supplementation?

Leutine (sp?) is import for vision and there are supplements for it

agreed lutein is good but even better is zeaxanthin (another xanthophyll) which is supposed to have a greater affinity for occular tissue.

For a while, I was looking into bilberries/huckleberries/hortleberries, but it seems those don't actually work, and it's just some hippy herbal myth.

A great product to take would be Zeaxanthin with Lutein by Source Naturals. Costs about $12.00/month and has a higher dose of Zeaxanthin than most other products.

Twinlab has a good vision formula called "Ocuguard" as does Futurebiotics called "NutriVision"...

Ocugard seems all right, by my multi has most of what's in there, minus the lutein, 100 mg of NAC, and some beta carotene.

I think I'll just pick up some lutein.

Good idea, the best Lutein, is the "Floraglo" (SP?) brand, made by Kemin Foods..

Bump on Alcar, i've not used the eyedrops nor do i have bad sight, but im pretty sure i've noticed better vision since i started using it daily.

I first got interested in this when one of my friends started taking Beta Carotene and vitamin E, and got his vision from 20/100 to 20/60 in two weeks.

Yeah, those are pretty dramatic results, and he had to get new contacts. It was probably normal dosing (20,000 iu beta carotene, and whatever amount of vitamin e), but I contribute most of his progress to being deficient in one of those vitamins.

You can get Ocuvite from any grocery store/vitamin store--I know someone who started getting vision problems including macular degeneration....started taking the ocuvite---totally stopped the degeneration from going farther and has had no vision problems.

I take 1200 mg of DHA and 1000 mg of EPA every day (5 costco extra strength fish oil capsules).
