Was doing my typical DL's to start off my back workout this afternoon. Trying switching up my sets by doing somewhat of a pyramid setup. 8x225, 6x275, 3x315, 1x335. Felt woozy after I put BB down after last rep.
Next thing I know a guy is asking me if I am okay. This is when I realize my body is sprawled on the ground with my left shoulder and face hurting. Do not know how long I blacked out, but I definitely collapsed and hit the ground awkwardly. Left shoulder has deep pain in it (side/rear delt area, where BB rests when I do squats almost). Cannot even move left arm without pain. Left cheek has a bruise; tinted purple/black. Nothing too noticeable
I know others sometimes get light-headed after DL, but anyone ever black out?
In before cool story bro

gotten super close to it, but never actually blacked out. Take it slower, breath more (not too much, u can pass out doing that 2), lower weights a LITTLE, and don't "flip out" when u lift. I used to flip out, and i have high blood pressure now, i think from that way of lifting. You prob have high blood pressure or diabeties in your family i'm betting. (i do)

Thanks for the advice guys.
Think I may have forgotten to breath on the last rep. I have never had a problem when I would so a 4x8 reps setup. Not even lightheaded. Looks like I am going back to original setup
No diabetes in family. Doctors did miss diagnose Mother once. Maybe you guys have a point
Shoulder feels better this morning. Lateral movement hurts it the most. Hoping it is only a bone bruise. Taking day off today and probably tomorrow

i use to get real close to it when over doing the weight about a year ago. exhaling when at lockout then inhaling again fixed it for me as I do more weight then before.
I've always heard best to hold your breath full going up to align your spine, made the mistake of keeping it hold until i went back down.
