    Wearing a belt when squatting

As of now, I dont wear a belt when a squat. Am I at risk for anything? Our belts a good idea?

No risk , belts do not make squatting safer but it allows you to lift more weight due to increased intrabdominal pressure , i use it for max and sub max attempts only .

Stay away from it. You'll develop a need for it since when you have it on your midsection tends to "rest". Once you then go back to no belt your core won't be developed.

dont let anybody tell u a squat belt is useless, yes, it will hurt your core strength gains, but after you get up to a high enough squat to use it (500+) then who cares, its alot safer and keeps ur back straight so u dont put pressure on ur disks, etc.

if your only squatting like 135, 225, etc and ur wearing a belt, ur gonna look ridiculous anyways (i see it all the time at my gym, i see people putting on a belt to run on the teadmill!)

i dont use a belt for squat my max squat is in the high 300's, nothing fancy but once i get a higher squat, i will probably use a belt, but i have one for when i do dead lifts, i ALWAYS use one when i dead lift, its very easy to arch ur back on something like that.

If your mid section is resting when you have a belt on then you arent using your belt properly. Now I dont use one until I get to heavier weighst simply because I do want to use all my stabilizing muscles so they will get stronger. Problem is once you get close to max weights, the slightest slip can cause disaster. Your abs shouldnt rest when in a belt, the belt is for pushing against.

It's used to stabilize the torso. It is the agonist of the erector spinae (aka "lower back").
    My Goals:

For to make the heavy weights light and the baggy clothes tight.
