Like most girls, I wear what's comfortable and functional. For me, that's tight capris, or small shorts in the summer, and a tight tank top with sports bra underneath (I don't like the built in bras). Tight capris/ yoga pants definitely ARE the best to squat in, as are tight short shorts. Long or loose pants are just annoying, all the fabric gets in the way. I don't like t-shirts, too bulky and hot and restrictive. In my university gym, they had a no-tank-tops rule, which was awful. I bought a whole bunch of tanks as soon as I left university and went to a "normal" gym. Plus, I like to stay as cool as possible, doesn't everyone hate the feel of sweaty fabric clinging to skin? That said, I've never worn just a sports bra, but I wouldn't hesitate if it was really really hot. I play floor hockey on a co-ed team, and I'm usually the only girl wearing a tank top and tight pants or shorts. I feel kind of naked compared to the other girls, but I don't care, it's just so much more comfortable for me. At the gym, I don't care if guys look, not that I've ever noticed one blatantly staring. Hey, I also reserve the right to check out a hot guy at the gym, so gotta give them the same permission.

I don't have the confidence to go in a sports bra, and my gyms don't allow it. But I do wear low cut shirts and pretty tiny shorts. It makes me feel good to show off what I've worked for, and when I look good I feel god and my workouts are better. As far as I'm concerned, look if you want to look, just stay out of my way, and do your own workout. Don't just lurk

Never, because I don't seek the attention to justify my "ass" by doing squats using an ez curl bar in the middle of a gym. With 20+ dudes who are "pervs" for starring at me. I'm not saying 100% of females do this, but lets be real sweetheart the majority of women that do this chit is for attention. No one gains anything squatting a 30lb curl bar in the middle of a gym basically naked. On the flip side, 'men' need to chill out with string tanks or cut shirts as well. No one cares about your ribs or the tats.

I am very sorry for you that you live in a place completely overrun by pervs, it must be terrible! And all those hundreds of people in the gym, all doing absolutely nothing other than watch you squatting, oh boy, must be embarrassing as chit. I am curious, do they also bring the popcorn? I am so glad where I work out people are too busy to look at themselves in the mirror to be looking at others, and that I am not so self conscious that I actually believe everybody is looking at me, and that pervs form a negligible minority of gym goers. its funny, my gym has a ticker scrolling on the tv's and it lists the etiquette for the gym and it says not to stare or "lurk" at other members because it is rude.

this isn't directed necessarily at you, just to some of the responses in general in this thread.

why is it considered "perverted" to look at a woman working out. over the years i have had memberships to a couple of different gyms and invariably in every one there was at least 2 or 3 super hot, and i mean really facially beautiful women that would wear a thong with some biker shorts and tank tops and for all intents and purposes they were ready for the beach. how could you not be sexually attracted to someone like that and how could you not stare.

and these chicks knew full well what they where doing, it was impossible not to notice that every guy in the gym that wasn't gay decided to work out in the same section as her at the same time.

me, i eventually would get tired of staring and would walk right up to them and tell them that they are beautiful and interestingly enough, even though i'm not the handsomest guy in the world or have the best physique they would respond positively, one even kissed me on the cheek and one became my workout buddy.

there was one that when she saw me at the gym she would make it a point to workout right in front of me and i noticed that she would look in the mirror to see if i was checking her out and when she saw that i was she would smile and do extra deep squats and lunges and all sorts of sh!t. i walked around with a boner all the time, and you know what i didn't try to hide it, my attitude is like if you want to show off and get me excited then i'm going to show you that it's working.

and let's be real for a second, that's the only reason to join a gym, i have no interest in joining a gum where it's a sausage party, if a gym has no hot chicks working out i might as well buy a bench and weight set and workout at home where it's more convenient.

to me the real pervs are the guys that don't want to work out in a gym full of girls, unless you're gay i see no reason to work out in a room full of dudes, i have no need for that, i can understand working out with a buddy or two but again the chicks working out in the same area are a must.
