    BCAA Ingredient Ratios

    Hi -

Looking for some information on the importance of the ratios of L-Leucine : L-Isoleucine : L-Valine in the various BCAA products-- often 2:1:1, respectively.

What is the significance of this ratio? Is there a physiological reason, or is it simply a cost of production ratio (or a combo of both)?

    Thanks!

The ratio is in part related to how it mimics the ratio found in real animal protein and on the safety thereof ... (i.e., a 2:1:1 leucine:isoleucine:valine ratio).

They come in this ratio because your body must metabolize one valine and one isoleucine molecule in order to metabloize two leucine molecules. Taking them in this ratio prevents leucine from causing a depletion of the other BCAAs.
