Question Is there any evidence that hanging upside down for a period of time = taller?

or just hanging for that matter. I know it streches your back temporarily, but Im interested in knowing whether it can have permanent results.

    very useful inputs so far.

a kid in my gym says he's been hanging upside down for about 3 months now (30 min) each day and he's grown almost an inch. he's 20. so if it does really work, I wouldnt mind being a few inches taller.

that's true. in the morning, you back stretches while you sleep, therfore you are taller.

the kid i mentioned is 20 yrs old. and well, he states the 1inch increase has been permanent.

it has been proven scientifically that over a long period time (usually generations) animals were able to change their physical shape in order to survive in various environment. (longer necks, etc.) but whether you can do this in "one" generation, yourself, im not so sure.

age doesn't matter, i've worked with people who were 30 who're tards when it comes to training and stuff like that - like one guy insisted that doing 100reps of curls/day added 2'' on his arm in 2weeks. Suuuuuuuuuuuuure it did, esp. since he looked smaller than before from a **** diet. Or another guy who kept cclaiming he had 19'' arms, yet they were somehow smaller than my wrist, lol. People are just stupid for the most part.

he said hanging normally would make his hands longer too, where hanging upside down, would make his legs longer.

I totally agree with you there. I certainly dont want to look like an idiot hanging upside down when it wont do anything simply based on what some guy said. so i am looking for some solid evidence, if there is any.

exactly. you get his points. *claps*

I came across this while looking this up:

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON INTERNET HEIGHT SCAMS - 99% OF THEM DON'T WORK - - YOGA STYLE STRETCHING, KICKING, HANGING & EXERCISES ARE THE ONLY WAY TO INCREASE YOUR HEIGHT IF YOU ARE AN ADULT (OR RISKY, EXPENSIVE SURGERY!) WE'VE RESEARCHED EVERYTHING AND CAN TELL YOU WHAT'S A SCAM AND WHAT IS WORTH CONSIDERING. IF THESE SO CALLED "MIRACLE" PRODUCTS ADVERTISED BY THESE INTERNET COMPANIES WORKED, THEY WOULD BE ON BILLBOARDS, TELEVISION AND THE RADIO AND WOULD BE KNOWN WORLDWIDE!!!!!

my personal opinion is, just like animals, your body should be able to adapt.

its like lifting weights, more you lift, the more your body feels it should become stronger, and it responds by gaining muscle.

or when you start eating, I used to eat 3 times a day, and gradually increased the meal intake, and now i eat every 2 hours. no freaking way I could eat 8 times a day back then.

so if your body is under pressure to grow taller, maybe it will. most basketball players, swimmers, etc. are tall, although im not sure if that has anything to do with it.

my 2 cents. still looking for solid evidence.

so if your body is under pressure to grow taller, maybe it will. most basketball players, swimmers, etc. are tall, although im not sure if that has anything to do with it.

my 2 cents. still looking for solid evidence.
Why would your body want to get taller to compensate for hanging up side down? It's not like lifting weights. With weights your body knows it needs to be stronger, but how would your body know it needs to be longer by hangin upside down? Your body doesn't know how close the floor is.

Your body would think you need to strengthen your joints to support hanging upside down for so long. So the best that could happen is stronger joints (imo), but even that is unlikely.

lol, I've never heard of this hanging idea myself, what I have heard are people who've made amazing lean muscle gains like 30-40+ lbs have actually added an inch to their height, and I'm not talking about teenage BB'ers. But that could rubbish as well.

Because your body is being "pulled down" by the gravity and over time, your body might respond by stretching. Its like streching a peace of plastic, it will stretch if you pull it hard enough. metals, etc. are harder to stretch, but you "can" stretch them with enough pressure. your body is mostly liquid so I doubt it will be as hard as metal.

according to darwin, giraffe has a long neck because all the lower plants were eaten by other animals and they had to reach higher and higher and therefore, they have a longer neck.

I guess if you wanted to speed up things, you could hold a 35lbs weight with your hands while hanging upside down.

    EXACTLY

the giraffe needed a longer neck to survive. When you lift weights, you body gets stronger in order to survive.

How would being taller help you hang upside down? It wouldn't make it any easier. So why would your body want to be taller?

EDIT: by your theory, shoulder bats be extremely tall?
