Welcome to the bodybuilding.com forums! We have some simple rules for our members, so everyone can have a more useful and enjoyable time here. Please read through these rules carefully before posting. If you have any questions about them, please PM(private message) a moderator

1) Do not attempt to start flamewars (ie: no baiting). Posts that are irrelevant, insulting, or simply stupid in an attempt to start flamewars, increase post count or generally cause aggravation will be closed or deleted. Repeated violations of this rule will result in a ban. DO NOT CALL PEOPLE TROLLS. Moderators will decide who is and who isn't a troll without your help.

2) Do not be a post whore. This essentially means that we do not want members to post simply for the sake of increasing their post count. Here is a general definition of a post whore Definition by dio

Post whore - Many bumpers evolve into the much dreaded post whore, whose only purpose it seems is to accumulate posts. With such gems of wisdom as "I agree," "me too" and "I heard that somewhere," the post whore manages to accumulate 1000s of posts without ever really saying anything.

This behavior will be dealt with on a post-by-post and user-by-user basis. Please DO NOT REPORT post whoring. If we continuously see post whoring, it will be dealt with by deleting the majority of the users posts (to lower post count) along with a warning. If the actions continue, it can be a bannable offense.

3) Be respectful of women. Please do not refer to women as bitches, whores, hoes, sluts, skanks, etc. These are offensive terms and threads containing these terms (in reference to women) will be edited, closed or deleted. Repeated warnings will result in a ban.

4) Trolling will not be tolerated. Trolling (posting bull****, nonsense, or attention getting threads) with false accounts, with the intention of disrupting this forum, causing harm, or aggravation of the members or the mods will get you banned. If you continue to reregister accounts, we will report you to your ISP for abuse & violation of their terms of service and have your account canceled.

5) Posting SICK or DISGUSTING pictures/movies/websites will result in AUTOMATIC BAN! Pictures of tubgirl, goatse.cz, etc will result in an IMMEDIATE ban. This includes images of death, gore, sexual pictures, or anything just obscene or gross.

6) Keep signatures SHORT. Just keep your signature less than 10 lines or so and you should be fine. You are also not allowed to advertise in your signature - that includes referral links of any type. You are allowed to post links to your personal home page, blog, fitness log, myspace/bodyspace page, and things of that nature are fine.

7) There is no advertising allowed on the forum, and posting links to outside vendors is not allowed. This includes NO AFFILIATE OR REFERRAL LINKS of any type! This board is run and sponsored by Bodybuilding.com, but we want the truth about the products, good or bad, to be posted here so you can make a smart decision. You are welcome to post links to the cyberstore within the site, but we do not allow discussion of other supplement store sites for obvious reasons. Although you are welcome to discuss any manufacturer's products, you may not publicly post links to other places to purchase these products. If you are a supplement company or store owner, you are welcome to post here - but advertising links in your signature are not allowed. Advertising of products is also not allowed, however discussion of products whether they are sold through the Bodybuilding.com store or not, is allowed with some exceptions. (There a few brands that we do not allow to be discussed because of abuse.) We also do not allow links to online auctions or advertisements (for anything).

If you want to post your referral/affiliate links there are two designated threads for this: The free stuff thread or the make money thread (please be cautious and research any claims made). Other types of links are not allowed.

Starting new threads with attempt to advertise referral or affiliate programs of any type will be closed and deleted and you will be banned if you continue these actions.

8) Be respectful of the other members. Racism, bigotry & sexism will not be tolerated. We do allow frank discussion with the other members, and like to have a laugh, but some things are not appropriate. Repeatedly flaming, insulting and attempting to cause fights with other members will not be allowed and can result in a ban. Please be respectful to the board, the members and moderators. If you have a problem with another board member, please PM a moderator about it.

9) No posting sources or asking about sources for prescription or illegal drugs (including steroids). We want to protect our members safety from scammers and illegal purchases. We can no longer allow individuals discussing drug sources such as online pharmacies, and etc. There is a steroid forum on this board, and you can find information about most of these drugs in there. Moderators DO NOT verify sources.

10) All Moderators decisions are final. Our moderators are all unpaid volunteers who are looking out for the best interests of our members. We want to help each and every member get the best experience possible on our board, but there will always be individuals who choose to break the rules and be banned. THERE IS NO PUBLIC DISCUSSION ON THIS. If you have a problem with a decision a moderator makes, please PM (private message) them and discuss with them the issue. We can address is there if possible, but starting threads about it is not allowed. These threads will be closed or deleted. Making off topic posts in a thread questioning a mods decision is also a bannable offense.

11) Do not cross post. There are many categories in this forum, which should have subjects pertaining to them. Please make sure you are posting your thread in the correct section. Try and post your topic in the correct forum, based on its subject matter. For misc topics, go to the misc section. DO NOT post your question in more than one forum. Multiple threads will be closed or deleted.

12) No posts about RACE. We do not allow posts asking about preferences or functions of various races, ethnicities or creeds. This always end up turning bad and will be closed or deleted.

13) The Religion/Politics Forum is for CIVIL discussion of religion & politics. The Religion/Politics forum is a hotbed for issues that are very sensitive to many individuals. Please try and be respectful of other peoples viewpoints, do not start posts to flame or cause problems or you will be banned. If you are easily offended, it is recommended that you stay out of that section. If you see an offensive post, please report it.

14) Do not register multiple usernames. This is self explanatory. If you are caught using multiple usernames, your accounts will be banned, and if you reregister you will be IP banned and your ISP will be contacted to report abuse.

15) Do not place "Banned" under your username. This is annoying and we have enough to worry about having to deal without this nonsense. If you place the word "Banned" under your username, expect to become banned.

16) Only report posts that need to be reported. This means messages that are spam, advertisements, violations of these rules and problematic harassment posts.

17) If you want to discuss AAS, discuss it in the steroids forum, NOT in here. Threads discussing AAS in this forum will be deleted/closed. Also, NO DISCUSSION OF ILLEGAL DRUGS PERIOD!!!

18) This isn't eBay. Please do not try and list or sell personal items or links to merchandise on this forum. These posts will be deleted. If you have a special request, please ask a mod before posting to get approval. You can list items for free on craiglist.

By being a registered user on the bodybuilding.com forums, you agree to these rules. These rules can change any time, without notice. These rules apply in this section of the forum, as well as all other forum categories.

From now on, we are not going to allow posts regarding RACIAL issues that can insight derogatory, inflamed and insulting remarks about anyone's race or ethnic background. We are also not going to allow posts which are insulting or offensive towards an individuals religion, sexual preference, political affiliation, etc.

We are also not going to allow insulting posts about issues involving a person's SEXUAL PREFERENCE, RELIGION, COUNTRY OF ORIGIN, or POLITICAL VIEWS. If you have a problem with someone's viewpoints, this is not the place to talk about them. We will continue to allow discussions of politics, but when it comes to insulting, flames, derogatory statements, these threads will be CLOSED or DELETED.

If your thread is closed or deleted, consider yourself warned about further posting related topics. This is also a warning to the individuals posting in these threads that the situation has gotten out of hand and if you further attempt to stir up trouble, you will be banned.

Reason:

There are close to 50,000 members registered on this board at the time of this writing. We have maybe 20 moderators, and are a volunteer staff. This board is dedicated to bodybuilding and fitness. The misc forum exists as a service to the members to talk about off-topic posts in a CIVIL and RESPECTABLE manner. However, we have little patience for posts about someone's race, religion, etc - when they start to go downhill and we are trying to help the other members with their fitness issues.

There has been talk of removing the misc and sex forums completely, so all members need to take heed and be vigilant. If you encounter a post breaking these rules, report it immediately so we can deal with it.

With these rules in place, we hope to have a more comfortable board environment for everyone, regardless of race, sex or creed.

Questions

1) Why have these rules?
Because, as mods, we are getting pretty sick and tired of having people post this idiotic threads that just end up causing problems and our inboxes being flooded with reported posts. We will no longer tolerate this out of control behavior in the misc forum.

2) Can we still talk about politics?
Yes. We still allow political discussions, unless they get out of hand. Please keep civil and respect other members viewpoints. There is now a seperate forum subsection for this.

3) This is the misc forum. We should be able to talk about whatever we want.
We realize there are many members who come here just for the misc forum. However, this board is being run with the intention of catering to bodybuilders. That is our primary focus.

Seeing as though this site has countless members that register everyday looking for advice, I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread about the best ways to benefit from using this forum. There is an abundance of good and unfortunately bad information on here. This thread was created to make your stay more pleasant.

Ten Tips to Better Forum Usage

1) Search Funtion- This is probably your most important tool when doing research. Since this site has so many members just like yourself. It only makes sense that they have asked the same question that you?re going to ask. Learn to use it properly and you?ll become a bodybuilding guru.

2) Sticky?s- At the top of each forum are sticky?s. These are threads that have been approved by a moderator or administrator as extremely important. Sticky?s generally contain valuable information regarding the forum?s rules or info on the subject of the forum.

3) Watch Out for Misinformation- While there is a multitude of good members on the boards, there is also a bunch of newbies posting misinformation. If you don?t agree with something, simply ask the member who posted to explain what they?re posting and/or back it up with scientific evidence. As a rule of thumb, you can generally trust that what the moderators and veterans are posting is correct information.

4) Report the Post Function- In the bottom right of each post there is a button entitled ?Report this post to a moderator?. In the event you see a thread with racial remarks, spam advertising messages, harassment, etc. you should report the thread. That way, a moderator can take the correct course of action with the thread.

5) Private Messaging- If you have a question or comment for one particular member, use the Private Messaging system the board has. It works sort of like E-Mail except it?s only with members of the board. If you have problems with a member or moderator, it is always best to use this function.

6) Oh so many posts!-Since there are so many posts every day in this forum it?s quite common for you not to be able to find a thread you posted in. All you have to do when you first come back to the forum to find your posts is simple. Go to the search function and type in your username where it says search by username. It will run the search for you, and all the threads with yellow arrows pointing down next to them are the threads that have been posted in since your last visit.

7) But I want to become a moderator!-There?s tons of members on this board that would love to become moderators. The moderators and administrator choose who will become a moderator. Your best bet is not to spam the board about becoming one. Instead, post lots of good information, follow the rules, contribute to the board in a positive manner, and they?ll notice.

8) Informative Thread Titles- As common courtesy to members. Include some information about the subject of the thread when posting one. If you do not, the thread will probably get closed. Examples of inappropriate titled include ?Help? or ?Question?.

9) Posting Multiple Threads on the Same Topic- If you ask a question in one section, please do not post it in another, or at least wait a couple days to. In the event your question doesn?t get answered at first, simply reply to your own thread with ?bump? and it will go back to the top. If it still doesn?t get answered after a couple of days, then try a new section.

10) Common Forum Abbreviations and Sayings

Bump- This has two purposes. Primarily, it is used to bump a thread back up to the top of the page so more people can view it. Secondly, it is used as a form of agreement if you agree with what was said.

Troll- Someone who comes to the site to cause trouble and is banned by moderators. They are known to come back and back.

Flame- Harassment of another member. This is not tolerated by the moderators.

TTT- ?To the top?. This is basically the same thing as ?bump?.

LOL- Laughing out loud.

ROTF- Rolling on the floor

LMAO- Laughing my ass off

PM- Private Messaging

If you notice a thread that is blatantly trying to provoke a reaction or seek attention i.e trolling, then please don't post in it, just ignore it.


Trolls start threads in order to get a reaction out of us..........take that away from them and they will have little point in visiting this forum. You have to understand that these sad individuals actually get a thrill out you reacting to them, not only that but by posting in the thread you are keeping it BUMPED to the top of the forum.

Ok, I am going to teach you all how to post an image. I've seen several threads with people asking ,"How do i post an image that you don't have to click?" I'm here to answer that question.

Note: If you need to edit an image before you upload it, IrfanView is a freeware graphics viewer and editor. You can perform simple tasks such as changing the image format, cropping the image, resizing, and etc. If you need to do more advanced editing, GimpShop is another freeware tool that is very similar to Photoshop. First, locate the image you wish to put in your post. Right click and choose 'copy image location'

First, locate the image you wish to post. Right click the image and choose 'Save image as'. Save the image to your desktop.

ImageShack provides several tools to automate these processes. There is a Firefox Extension called ImageShack right-click that allows you to simply right click on an image you want to upload it. It will then open a new tab with the links to the uploaded picture.

Secondly, there is also a Windows tool called ImageShack Quickload that installs using Windows Installer & requires .NET Framework. It allows you to upload an image by right clicking on it anywhere on your Windows screen, such as on your desktop or through Explorer.

There is also a similar tool for Macintosh users called the ImageShack Dashboard Widget

Finally, there is an ImageShack Toolbar for both IE and Firefox that has the same functions as the above utilities.

With the implementation of the new fitness oriented Bodyspace on this forum, it is necessary to follow some guidelines to keep this part of the forum in the direction we hope it to go. If all goes to plan, it will be a valuable resource for learning, motivation, and networking with others among the bodybuilding and fitness community.

So without further ado, these are the few rules we have, most of them coming directly from the admin himself. Enjoy this new part of our forum. Sources indicate to me that it's only about 20% done, which is impressive to say the least.

1. Pictures on BodySpace absolutely 1000% MUST be of the user. They should NOT be funny pics, pics of pros, morphed pics, hot baby pics, or ANYTHING ELSE. This is VERY important to get this started in the right direction!

2. All entries by people must be REAL. For example, if somebody enters MARS for their location, that's not acceptable. Same goes for people who put ridiculous lifts or stats such as 8000 lb bench press. This is not a place aimed for being humorous. This is for REAL users to post REAL information to help meet their goals and help others find out what works best, etc.

3. Users can moderate comments to their BodySpace or BodyBlog themselves or set it to not allow comments, etc. Of course, if you see obscene comments, you can delete them.

4. Complaints about consistent abuse to one's profile should be given in the direction of the moderators via PM.

5. All forum rules regarding how you act are expected to be followed in your profiles. In forms of racism, posting of outside links, derogatory names for women, etc. will not be tolerated. If you have questions about these rules, please see the other sticky in this forum.

6. Try to keep your profile professional, clean, and friendly overall. We don't want this to turn into a joke like the rep system has. If we get your cooperation, this could turn out very nicely.

Seeing as most people seem to think getting real help in the Misc section is impossible, I decided to write a guide.

Remember guys, when trying to build a good reputation in the Misc forum, follow these simple rules:

Rule #1- Do not, under any circumstance, make threads and/or posts complaining about reps, asking for reps, or wondering why someone negative repped you. Almost 98.6% of the time you will be negged in to all hell.

Rule #2- Do not post any sexually related stories regarding yourself and another man and/or woman. Most people will ask for pics or videos of the said person. If you cannot provide pics of this person, you will be negged in to all hell.

Rule #3- When posting pics of a hot female, there is likely to be one or more people saying that she is "average" or you can "go to any university campus and see girls just like her". Do not be alarmed. They just have very high e-standards and probably have not even "touch girl butt"

Rule #4- When thinking of making a new thread, at least read the threads on the FIRST page to see if there has been any duplicate threads made recently about your topic. If you can not find one on the first page and the topic you are going to start a thread about is really good, do a search to see if it has been done before. Most reposts will be harassed and/or negged in to all hell.

Rule #5- If you have a legitimate question about a relationship or about a female/male in general. Make it in the Relationship forum. If you do decide to make one in the Misc section you better be prepared for massive amounts of "PIITB" and "this thread is useless without pics" replies.

Rule #6- If you are a guy and happen to give your best friend a blowjob, don't post about it in the Misc section. In fact, it would be better to keep it to yourself. If you do happen to post about it in the Misc section, you better start thinking of a new username to register because we will find you and harass you in almost every forum on this board.

Rule #7- Do not make a thread bragging about your lifting stats unless you can provide a video with your forum name and at least 1 form of ID. Otherwise, we will all know that you fabricated them immensely.

Rule #8- If you want to post in the SEA people thread about anything that could possibly get it locked/deleted, you will end up with a bunch of red lumps of coal in your User CP. The SEA people did nothing to you, so we would like the favor returned.

Rule #9- Do not make a thread directed towards one person. There are PM's for a reason. Failure following this rule and you will get negged in to all hell.

Rule #10- You do not have potential.

Rule #11- Before you post an email you just got or rumor you just heard check and make sure it's not an urban legend so you won't make an ass out of yourself. (Added by pogue)
