I am seriously considering this as I know a guy who does it 24/7 and he is very slim and pretty healthy.
I know that as bodybuilders we like to keep eating every few hours but this style makes me too hungry. When I do the 6 small meals a day thing I am always hungry and constantly want to eat more. Somtimes, if I go a long time without with food I actually start to forget about it.
I know that you risk burning muscle and going into starvation mode but how about training and immediately after having one really big, healthy , balanced meal.
Maybe throw in a few protein shakes throughout the day to offset muscle cannabilisation. Anyone tried this?

I use to do the 6 meals per day but through personal experience i'm a believer of this...
Cardio in the mornings on an empty stomach. If you're going to eat "x" amount of calories, simple, eat "x" amount of calories. It doesn't matter how many meals you do it in just strive to make sure you get that "x" amount of calories. I honestly think that the more meals i eat the hungrier i get. If i eat about 3 meals a day with some protein shakes and veggies i'm good and i have the feeling in my stomach that tells me i'm burning away that fat, not that hungry feeling or the full feeling just that content healthy feeling. I think if you want to lose fat and you have a calorie deficit you're gonna be hungry and feel like you need to eat more but that's just part of losing weight. Also, remember that every persons body is different and just because the person you know is eating one meal a day that doesn't mean that's right for you. Try out some different things and see what works best for you. Just make sure you're losing fat (I've lost 8 pounds in 6 weeks doing what i do).Last edited by jhb07c; 12-13-2007 at 08:03 PM. I think it's mostly just personal preference. At first I hated having 5 meals and preferred my 3 meals a day, but now there's no way I would change it. It's easier for me to control what I eat and to reduce errant snacking with more meals.
Though I don't know about just one meal. It doesn't really sound like intermittent fasting to me since it lacks the critical component: "intermittent"-ncy.

I've thought about doing the Protein-Sparing Modified Fast thing, but haven't had the testicular fortitude to attempt it yet. Wouldn't mind giving it a try
Well, what else is open? Besides, your mouth? When you're like kissing on some gay dude. And like, holdin' his like muscles 'cause his arms just are like wrapped around you. And you feel like so safe... 'cause your like... you know... not that you're gay or nothin' but God you just wanna like bury yourself in his chest and just live there forever... - ATHF

Yeah, I used to be a big supporter of the whole eat every 3 hours thing, but the more I see the more I believe that it just doesn't matter.
Hit your macros and your calories. It probably doesn't matter when you get them. Definitely log all your food though in something like www.fitday.com.History: Mar, 2001: 135lbs @ ~14% | Nov, 2004: 245lbs @ ~40% | Dec, 2006: 168lbs @ 5.5%ish | Nov, 2008: 177lbs @ 5.5%ish | Dec, 2016: 179lbs

thanks for the input guys. I know two bad things happen for for when I do the two things that nutritionists recommend : eat a big breakfast and eat lots of small meals. I get hungrier and hungrier. I know that if I eat a big breakfast then I'm gunna be hungry all day long, once I've awoken my stomach it screams 'feed me' all day long.
I am currently reading the fast threads to get more info.Currently cutting and angry!!

I firmly believe "starvation mode" is a bunch of garbage. You will not go into starvation mode unless you havent eaten for days are are truly starving.
I think 2 to 3 meals a day is fine. Whatever works for you. 1 meal a day is tough because you really have to stuff yourself to get enough calories in.Avatar Pic was from Oct 2008. Then gained some weight as all I do is WORK!

I would absolutely advise against eating one meal a day. This is a sure fire way to shut down your metabolism.

I was under the impression catabolysis ("starvation mode") takes about 12 hours to without a nutrition source to begin... which means that it might be over blown in certain circumstances since it would take 12 hours + the time to digest your last meal for it just to begin, but it might occur if you only eat one time a day.
