Heavy Weights and Numbness - Should I be concerned?

Ok I've been really dedicated with my weight training and have been lifting heavy and increasing my weights. In the last week I noticed that the side of my right thigh had a numb area. At first this didn't worry me as I have many other numb areas that I developed from poledancing..... However today int he gym while doing leg presses I felt a weird tingle spread out over the numb area. Almost like an electric shock and now the numb area seems to have gotten a bit larger (to about the size of a handprint)
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and should I be worried?
I haven't lost any strength or range of movement and I'm not in any pain, its just numb skin.

Pinched nerve maybe? I'd go see my chiro first (he's cheaper than a doc and always fixes what's wrong with me when it seems training related) and if he couldn't fix me I'd go see my doc. I wouldn't just let numbness and tingling go, though...

Hm, sounds like sciatica or tight piriformis. Definitely go to a doc, and they may refer you to a physical therapist.

This same thing happened to me too in the same area. I didn't go to a doctor, though that may be advisable. I did a lot of stretching and rolling on a foam roller, took it easy for about a week. The numbness did go away, but I have kept up with the stretching. Strange though, I thought it might be a pinched nerve too.

I have had similar problems as well. Stretching and giving things a break seemed to help me as well. Although seeing a doc would probably be best.
