I have a friend who lost both his parents in a terrible car accident. He also had one leg amputated from the thigh down, broken ribs, arm...etc. Rather than live a life of misery, he has turned it around and hits the gym harder and with more passion than anyone I know. He has an excellent body, considering what he has been through. I always think about him when I don't feel like lifting weights. I hit the gym shorty after.
"Let me 'splain...No, there is too much. Let me sum up."

I hate being average or even excellent at something...the only way I'm satisfied is if I'm the best. Just to even think that there might be someone out there working harder than me just makes me sick to my stomach...You workout/diet like an average person, you're going to get average results.

Alot of things. Il list some things that stick out in my head.
1- Seeing how far I have come in a short time and constantly making more progress and people noticing.
2- When in the gym if I dont lift as much weight as I want then I have to get up and inevitably look at myself in the mirror and know I failed myself.
3- The hope that I can eventually win a natural bodybuilding competition because its a sport thats all you and noone else so when you win you know its from all your hard work alone.

motivation
i had the most random insight ever to begin bodybuilding. I was watching what i think was summerslam 2002 and saw the rock face brock lesnar, the intro before the match had the rock jogging with a 180 pound log and saying he didnt wanna be the biggest, he didnt wanna be the strongest, he wanted to be the best. and me and my mate watched the match, then called the gym and went there and never looked back, been wanting to be the best we can ever since. wrestling is gay now though

I lift for myself, because of what I was, what I am, and what I can be with hard work, determination, blood, sweat, tears. I fear the man in the mirror staring back at me. Taunting me, daring me, belittling me. I lift to be stronger than him, bigger than him, faster than him... better than him.

I don't need motivation to work out. I just love doing it. If I happen to get bigger or get more attention from my physique then thats just secondary. The important thing to me is going in the gym and working out. Its like meditation to me. I don't need to rev myself up to do a big lift, I can just do it. It just clicks for me. Always has. Love what you do and do what you love...
A king may move a man, a father may claim a son. But remember that, even when those who move you be kings or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God you cannot say "but I was told by others to do thus" or that "virtue was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice. Remember that.

1. I have low self confidence about my looks.
2> I am embarrassed about my weight
3. I'm weak
4. If i get 1 complement like "are you on steroids", i will be satisfied(thats won't be for a LONG time tho)
I used to be 135 pounds, give me a break.

First of all I am a big fan of motivational sayings they are taped on my door and I see them every time I enter my room and every time I workout.
Hopefully these will motivate others too: (mabey you should even throw em' on a tshirt)
1) Shut up and train.
2) Life is a mental game you just got to know how to play it.
3) Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to go to his class.
4) When in doubt, knock 'em out
5) Get busy living or Get busy dying
6) I can sleep when I die
7) Curls For The Girls
8) They call me a bully.. but I only pick on bigger kids
and.. My favorite one:
9) everytime you stay out late
everytime you sleep in
everytime you miss a meal
everytime you miss a workout
you make it that much easier for me to beat you.
Also the music I listen to which is all rock and rap being LOUD helps me crank out those extra reps - without it my workouts would suck.
Last but not least seeing and hearing what my brother and dad used to look like at my age and wanting to get bigger then them.

What motivates me? I actually have no idea, I get this tremendous feeling of almost greatness when I train hard, and boy do I mean HARD. The more I can't talk, the more times I need to pullover because I'm unsafe to drive after leaving the gym, the better I am. I'm better than you, I train harder than you. When I'm at the gym, I don't know you, and you don't know me, my body is a machine, built with sweat, tears, and puke and my mind works even harder.
No offense to anyone, more of an inspirational speech rather than me being conceded. I actually just got back from the gym and this is how I feel.
