BF% Pic inside

I got my bod pod done and a dexa done. bod pod put me at 21%, the dexa put me closer to 26%. My goal is to cut down to 210-215 and then start a clean bulk back up to 230ish. Just from the picture, what would you guess my BF was had I not told you, and what do you suggest I do to get my weight and BF down over the course of the next 3 months?

You have a big gut but I still think you are close to 15%. What is pod and dexa?

Bod Pod is a machine that measures the body and the amount of air displaced. Its more complicated than that, but thats a general analysis. The Dexa is like a xray, it measures bone density as well as body fat. Both tests are thought to have a 3-4% margin of error, but they had such a large margin between them. I wouldn't call it a big gut, but its not a 6 pack by any means.

Are you really 5"10" and 240? Because you look quite muscular in that pic, and 26%BF just sound totally off to me.

I think 21% isn't off. You don't look 15 as someone sugguested.

I would've guessed in the neighborhood of 19-22%

21 is definitely more accurate than 26

5'11.25'' and 240. Ya, 26% body fat sounded way off for me, even the Bod Pod which put me at 21% sounded too high, I was guessing 18-19%, I guess that 2% isn't a huge difference, and if anything, I'll just end up cutting another 1 or 2%.

Dexa is very accurate.... even if it was inaccurate, I doubt it would be off by 8% as you claim. One of two things happend.... either their machine and/or the operator messed up, or you've got a lot of fat in places on your body. Dexa measures everythiing including fat on legs, buttocks, back, etc.

I also got a Bod Pod test and it put me at 21.5% although I look leaner than you do. I don't think the Bod Pod is accurate. The examiner thought it's too high so he repeated the test 4 times just to confirm. Anyway, I'm going to get a DEXA scan soon at a hospital so I can know for sure.

I'm gonna go on the other end of the spectrum and say closer to 20% or maybe lower. I have no history or knowledge with either machine though. The only way you could be 26% is if its lower body ie not working out legs or something.

Correct. People drastically under-rate BF% here as if to provide comfort. Trust me, 15% is leaner than you think. Most people have no gut at 15% at all.
