I seem to have plateaued on my flat bench, while the other excersizes I do for chest(declines, inclines, machine flys, incline rotation press) keep getting easier.
I work out only with dumbells because I work out alone. For about 2 months I have begun with 6 sets of four then worked up to three sets of eight, doing this I have gone from the 45 pd. dumbells to the 85s. For about 2 weeks I have been doing 5 sets of five with the 85s and not gone up at all, I fail everytime I go for four sets of six.
Here is a new routine I've done the past few days, what does everybody think
I am thinking I will step up the last two sets up to three reps next week and work that way. I also try to throw in a superset of flat then incline presses with low weight, high reps once per week. Does anyone have any ideas how I can overcome this plateau? Will this plan be effective?
I can barbell bench but I like to challenge myself-I work out alone and for that reason have to use weights that are safe, but I do agree that barbell benches would be the best option if they were possible, unfourtunately I simply cannot.
I could use the smith machine, but I find the range of motion unnatural, a good bench press isn't quite straight up and down.
