    So its official... whey protein give me horrible rashes.. why does life **** me?

    So yea, I made a earlier thread a month or 2 back about the possibility that whey protein was the cause of my rashes. This was pretty much based on my mothers assumptions, I honestly thought there was no way whey protein was the cause of my rashes which pretty much plague my whole ****ing upperbody.

    I went to the dermatologist and he pretty much has no idea. I even asked him if it could be due to my "bbing" diet and he said no. After about 4 visits and a number of creams/pills I gave up on his ass.

    So about a month ago, I decided I would listen to my mom and stop taking whey protein. For a bber and especially me this pretty much sucked.. I mean I was takin up to 6 scoops of whey a day which is 150 grams of protein so yea it was a big source of my protein. BUT...

    within 2-3 weeks my skin was at least 50% better...I couldnt believe this bull****

    4 weeks later you could see a huge difference...BUT I was starting to "shrink" or at least in my mind I felt I wasnt getting enough protein in so you know what I had to do I pretty much said **** it and got back on the whey and now my skins backed to being ****ed up. I figure what the hell if it starts to bother me again, I know what I have to do to stop it, but it does kinda suck, just feels like theres always some bull**** to deal with.



    um.. dont know why I actually wrote this out... just want you guys who take whey protein and dont get bad rashes kiss my e-ass lucky ****s


    cliffs:
    getting horrible rashes
    dermatologist cant find the reason
    mom thinks its the whey protein
    I stop taking it, rash goes away
    Im getting smaller in my eyes I start taking it again
    rash comes back

    Serious: that sucks man ... sorry to hear that. It could be an additive in the whey ... such as the artificial sweetners, which are disgusting.

    My friend is a vegetarian and got pure whey from some vegetarian grocery store. Maybe you should try that.

    Can you drink milk (lactose)? Maybe try a different kind of protein... Isolate or something...

    I don't know why egg or casein protein won't adequately do the job. Sure, they don't have the super rapid uptake that whey has, but I think good real food timing and supplementation with either egg, casein, or both, would work fine.

    actually my next option is trying a diff. protein. I've been using optimun nutrition for almost 2 years so its time for a change. But for the past 2 months I did infact switch to isolate, but I cant tell a difference

    I actually gave up milk a few months ago... turned out to be the cause I was have horrible stomach problems. And I would rather take whole food but eating 6 chicken breast a day was turning out to put a whole in my ****ing wallet.

    yea I was thinking of taking egg, but people talk down on it so. I've heard it taste horrible not to mention it ranks at the bottom when going against whey/soy/casien

    It could be the quality of the whey, the type concentrate/isolate or the fact that you have developed a sensitivity due to frequent use. Use hemp protein powder because it is better for you anyways and rely on fish, eggs, chicken, beef, as priority protein sources in your diet. Things should be fine for you then. That is how it worked out for me.

    I don't know who told you that, but they really need to do a little research. Most of what I read uses egg proteins as the standard that others are measured against.

    Whole eggs have the highest biological value of any protein available. (Biological value is
    the amount of protein (or more precisely - the nitrogen) retained in the human body per gram of protein absorbed.) True, that today's whey proteins are biologically equal to the egg proteins, but this isn't an option for you.

    Read more about it on bb.com. I really cannot see why you can't use other protein sources (even incomplete plant proteins can be combined with other foods to make complete, usable proteins). Hope this helps you.

    Does that realyl work because I take whey protein and my throat usually swells up, even tho i get a good intake of protein from whole foods.

    Just want to document my experience in case anyone else having the same problem. I started taking muscleTech platinum whey strawberry and cream. One or two scoops a day. After 2 weeks I noticed getting itchy, especially when I started to sweat. It developed into a rash on back of my head in the hair. After 4 weeks my neck and top chest started to break out in an angry red rash. I had no idea what it was an originally blamed eating to many mangoes. Then I realised it was probalbly something in the protein powder. Stopped the protein powder and rash and itch starting to fade.

    I dont ever remember having a rash from anything before and have no problems with diary etc. I went to a specialist who was an idiot and gave me cream and pills. I even asked him if the protein powder was to blame. He dismissed this idea so dont think to much of him.

    The experience has been a blessing in disquise as I am so much happier with boiled eggs and chicken. Hope this helps someone else.
