geez, that's an absolute shame. some magazine just had a pic and some sort of lil article about him recently. i don't know if it was an up to date pic of him or not but he was listed in a magazine. the magazine wasn't talking about his death or anything, i forgot was it exactly was dealing with. i hope his family gets thru this rough time. R.I.P.

I just heard. Sad news. I was a big fan of Paul DeMayo since he first hit the scene with what I thought were some of the best arms around, which were overshadowed by his equally impressive quads. I got a chance to see him once in competition at the USA's back in 92? 93? in probably the best shape of his life. He should have won but didn't make the top five.

Was he suffering from any mental ailments, such as chronic depression, which would have driven him to drug abuse? Based upon his unfortunate relationships and lack of enthusiasm, as portrayed by L.T., I get a strong image of such.
Also, I heard it was a heroin overdose, but I have no idea about the credibility of whatever news source it was.
DeMayo remains handsome.FAT tits. Lick 'em good.

Gonna miss ya BIG guy
I remember when Paul Demayo and Mike Matarazzo were on the cover of a Power Factor Training a while back, like in 92. Paul has always been my favorite and always inspired me. When I saw him on the cover, I ran out and baught a copy of it in hopes that I might one day look something like him. Paul, you are a true inspiration to all and hope you rest in peace. You will be missed terribly! My heart sank when I read the news of his death, sad, sad day.

I don't know how I missed this terrible news, but just found out about DeMayo. You know, it's funny how you can be a fan of someone and then you get busy in your own life and forget about them. I had no idea of any of the tragedys he had endured. I assumed he was taking some time off before coming back better than ever.
I was always in awe of his quads and triceps. I hate his life turned out the way it did. My prayers go out to his family and loved ones.

This is really tragic as Paul could have had a very bright future. He was just drawn into something that was very hard to get out of and ultimately, it killed him. Well, I hope quadzilla is in a better place now and still pumping up. Rest in peace.
Stay Motivated!!

I don't care if he was a great bodybuilder, a doctor, whatever... after reading the posted tribute it sounds like he was not a very good human being. It sounds as if he was a big crybaby who resorted to violence when things didn't go his way. I have no respect for a man who beats a women, I don't care who he is. He was responsible for his own demise, the world , at least his tiny part of it, is better off without him.

I realize that their are anti-drug people who will never accept that drugs are Ok to use. I respect that. Just don't disregard my opinion about things because I'm a perfect example of a person who can use any drug in moderation, if I so choose.

sad, waste of a 37 y.o
It's sad to hear that Paul DeMayo died at such a young age... I had a ex training partner/friend that died 7 years ago from herion.. similar situation, dad walked into his home to find 31 y/o son lifeless on the living room floor..
There has to be something else.. bodybuilding is a freak show of entertainment, we all enjoy the freaky pics, the veins and the size.. but you fail to realize that most of these guys live from contest to contest... client to client... no money, no future, horrible relationship history and once their "run" to be Mr Olympia is over... they have nothing to fall back on..
It's a sad world!

Apparently, it was a hit of PURE heroin that killed him, his friend, who he went out and got it with, also died from taking it, it wasnt painkillers, as far as i know anywys, anyone who has this months MD read gregg valentinos column.
Im sad to hear hes gone, especially by the means he passed, but he wont be forgotten, his pictures will forever be around he will forever be remembered as 'quadzilla', dont affront a man that many have looked up to as an idol.
He has passed now, the only words that should be spoken in his name are those of sorrow and happiness, sorrow because of his untimely death, happiness in remembering his life, the big guy on stage, the idol. No matter what he did, he does not deserve to be demeaned on a internet message board by people who never met him.
