im no expert on his history but a friend told he had calf implants??? i had seen some pics from later on his career and i must say i was very impressed at his development from pumping iron to then...

I've heard the same thing, wouldn't surprise me. Wheeler was accused of having calf implants to by shawn ray, when one of the olympias his calves went from small to gigantic.

Ferrigno did have calf implants when he made his comeback or whatever, I think at the '93 olympia, but he didn't have them in his early days. Flex wheeler was accused of having implants but he volunteered to do an x-ray or cat scan or some such thing and there was nothing to be found. But since his calves did jump in size pretty suddenly . . . my guess is synthol. That's only my guess, though.

i know that in interviews with shawn ray by flex wheeler in muscular development magazine, shawn ray admitted to doing it just to throw off flex's game, since at the time flex was up and coming and shawn was the seasoned pro. he talked about how he knew flex was weak mentally, as he tended to cheat on his diet and stuff, so he just threw him a curveball just to mess him up even more.
