i think that over time and with practice, i could eventually start hitting 100 mph baseballs

    but not at first

i would say that par on the golf course is one of the hardest things in sports

Yes, but were talking about hitting the baseball hard. Hitting a slow grounder to short or a dribbler back to the mound doesnt count.

Also, you've got to understand that hitting is the only thing in sports where even the best players fail 70% of the time. How good would a tennis player be if they could only return 30% of serves? How good would a golf pro be if he could only hit the ball near the hole 30% of the time? How good would a basketball player be if he could only get it in 30% of the time? Not very good.

In baseball, that is good enough. It's that hard.

That, in my opinion, is precisely why baseball is so boring.

I doubt it... when the ball is coming at you that fast it looks so small and you don't have much time to react. I played baseball all my life, including two years professionally and I still rarely got a piece of pitches in the mid-90's and higher.

i doubt it too. hitting a 100 mph fastball is something youre born with, a lot of people no matter how hard they work at it could never be able do it because they just dont have the reaction time/hand eye coordination

Many people feel this way. I don't think this should be the standard logic. There are some things in which you could practice, train and get good at. Hitting a baseball is not one of them. Both, hitting and fielding consist a lot on reflex. Reflex is not something you could train to get good at. You could do things to improve yourself but in general, timing/reflex is something you have or don't have. Baseball is much more mental than physical.

god that's such a stupid thing to say that just means the pitcher won 7/10 times. btw most basketball players shoot under 50% from the 3 point line so you have failed twice in once sentence. (NO B-BALL HATE)

What is the standard/acceptable shooting percentage in basketball?

What does that have to do with anything? They still shoot higher than 30% from beyond the arc if they are having a good game. Anyhow thats above and beyond whats required a basketball player. Thats like saying baseball players fail to hit a homerun 95% of the time.

All im saying is failing at something over half the time doesnt mean your sport is easy. I played both sports in HS and basketball players are im my mind the better athletes. but dont you see my point getting a hit is harder than making a ft thats why the percents are different it doesnt mean baseball players suck. Just like you said what does that have to do with anything thats what i was saying about the guy i quoted.
