i think that over time and with practice, i could eventually start hitting 100 mph baseballs
but not at first
i would say that par on the golf course is one of the hardest things in sports

Yes, but were talking about hitting the baseball hard. Hitting a slow grounder to short or a dribbler back to the mound doesnt count.
Also, you've got to understand that hitting is the only thing in sports where even the best players fail 70% of the time. How good would a tennis player be if they could only return 30% of serves? How good would a golf pro be if he could only hit the ball near the hole 30% of the time? How good would a basketball player be if he could only get it in 30% of the time? Not very good.
In baseball, that is good enough. It's that hard.

Many people feel this way. I don't think this should be the standard logic. There are some things in which you could practice, train and get good at. Hitting a baseball is not one of them. Both, hitting and fielding consist a lot on reflex. Reflex is not something you could train to get good at. You could do things to improve yourself but in general, timing/reflex is something you have or don't have. Baseball is much more mental than physical.

All im saying is failing at something over half the time doesnt mean your sport is easy. I played both sports in HS and basketball players are im my mind the better athletes. but dont you see my point getting a hit is harder than making a ft thats why the percents are different it doesnt mean baseball players suck. Just like you said what does that have to do with anything thats what i was saying about the guy i quoted.
