    I might try that out.

The only time I use a bar is during a bike ride when I'm on the road. I'll usually take some type of 30/40/30 bar or other protein/carb bar especially one that has a *some* sodium in it mainly because I'm drinking so much water.

Yeah making your own would be good then...You can make any ratio you want. Add some crasins and nuts...have fun with it. You can get unflavored protein too which works good.

    Bump to Designer Whey Bars!!

I love the designer bars, particularly One-Way. I tried the Detour and it's alright, a bit like a Snickers-lite. But it doesn't even compare to the One-Way bar. It's really filling, and sweetened with Splenda. Check out these stats:

    (Per Serving)
    Energy: 1255kJ (300 Cal)
    Protein: 30g
    Fat, total: 8g
    -saturated: 4g
    Carbohydrates, total: 26g
    -sugars: 12g
    Sodium: 280mg
    Potassium: 340mg
    Calcium: 140mg
    Iron: 0.7mg
    Phosphorus: 140mg

Also, props are due to Met-RX Protein Plus bars, and EAS Myoplex bars. Oh, and Dorian Yates' Pro Bar II. All of these products are superb in their own right, great for a pre-workout energy rush or just a meal on their own.
And a bit of advice: when making home-made protein bars, be sure to use dark chocolate for those all-important cocoa bean flavanoids that crush cancer.

You might as well have a snikers and a shake. Same thing. Bars are so full of fillers and binders not to mention all that suger. The only way I'd let one of my clients eat a protein bar is and that's a big if....they simpley can't get through the day without something sweet.

Because like me, you are sensitive to the sugar alcohols in them. The worst offender is "maltitol syrup" it will make me fart like crazy and then a few hours later, take a huge chocolatey dump.

Labrada protein bars are awesome, very filling. I get the ones with caramel & it tastes like a Twix, yum.
Also, the Zone bars are really really good. You can get at Wal-mart or Sam's in a big box. My fav is Fudge Graham, it tastes like Cocoa Pebbles. I love those!

Trioplex bars own so hard they are like 420 calories, but give me bad gas.
Musclesandwich when you want a candybar is good with similar nutrition tastes the best. Worst protein bar ever: Universal
OK bars: Powerbar Pria, good for endurance athletes etc. tastes mediocre
Nitrotech Bars: ok/good taste, but small and pricey

I did have a few that I really liked but I cant remember their names, but the ones I do like are the soft ones which are like nougart rarther then the hard ones where it takes more effort to eat them than a whole chuffin meal. I have to ask, I somtimes see protein bars which say 50g of protien, is this really true I mean come on there has to be some sort of scam with it, is it really good quality protien or is it shnide?

I've tried out a great deal of bars and here are my thoughts.

Someone mentioned Protein 2 Go bars, yes they are pretty tasty but they contain a fair amount of HF Corn Syrup. Along the same lines are Promax bars, I believe the first ingredient is Corn Syrup.

    Onto the good.

Tri-o-Plex bars - I'm a big fan of these in particular the Peanut Butter Banana due to the higher amounts of fibre in them (5 or 6 grams)

Myoplex Chocolate Chocolate Chip - Just tasty

Lebrada Lean Body cookie bars - It's been covered by many people, these bars are amazing.

The best I have found are Pure Protein chocolate peanut butter. 20g of protein, and usually 99 cents at the grocery. Also EAS Cooking and Cream are often 99 cents and are about 15 grams of protein. Both tastes great. I cant stand detour or Uturn bars at all.

I liked the Detour bars and you're right, the PB tasted like a Snickers. I was extremely impressed. Yummy.

    WLS patient

I am a Weight Loss Surgery patient, not a body builder. So, for my needs, I love the Power Crunch bars.

These are called "snack bars" but have 14g of protein and low carbs. I like three of the four flavors. Peanut butter, cookies and cream, and french vanilla. The triple choc. is too much.

I buy from bodybuilding.com and get a good price if order in quantity. I pay 13.xx for a box of twelve + shipping, etc. I also, in an emergency, can find the bars in another town.

I love the taste, must have protein supplements, and need a treat. This bar serves all my needs.

    Athens, Georgia
