Not confined to the gym - but I've done my time as both a farm hand and on building sites - where I've seen some crazy lifts.
Some of the older guys would get bored on the job and try to beat each others times going up the ladders (barn) with 50-70kg bags of grain over the shoulders. That's just one example.
It's guys like this that have superior functional strength than the average gym rat.
Some well into their 40's and in the same shape as they were 15 years beforehand.... ...

4plates SLDL, 1 RM (405lbs)
I've also seen a guy bench 5plates, but he has a spotter lifting off as much weight as possible, and he barely goes down two inches, so I don't count it.Crossfit. "Your workout is our warmup" Does this make you skeptical? Try Linda or Tabata Something Else and you will see why I said that.

rofl i think manlet is the funniest saying ever...
anyway, my friend in high school benched 440 or something? it was just an incredible amount of weight for being a sophomore...but i honestly think he was juicing. he pretty much told me that...Everyday, work to increase your lethality. Stop eating fast food and learn how to throw a tomahawk...
