    Post Uneven Abs

Does anyone else have abs that don't line up. It's so crazy looking, they are so uneven I HATE IT. Is there anything I can do to line them up?

I don't know. Mine is pretty noticeable. Another thing, would it effect my competition scores at all?

    Talking

look at ifbb pros. namely ronnine c and jay cutler.
both have amazing development in their abs, but niether have perfect stomaches with abs that "line up".

can someone remind me who the top 2 leading pros are currently?

My abs seem to move around...for a couple months one side will be a inch or so higher than the other, and then they will even out and move again. Right now they happen to be even. I've tried training one side or the other more so that they will realign, but nothing I do seems to effect them, they just move on their own.

Look at Jay Cutler's abs, it would be pretty hard for yours to be as unaligned as his, and he's #2 in the world.

    hips

I too have uneven abs. I asked a trainer about it, and I realized that it is due to a slightly curved spine. Check and see if your hips are level; my right femur is a half inch longer than my left, which ofsets my hips a little and causes for the uneven abs. It's no big deal, but I do have an insert in my left shoe now to combat the problem.

Over the years of training, eating, lifting, running, supplementing, shaping and even abusing my body, an axiomatic truth that I have often failed to grasp, but perhaps am on the verge of acquiring, is that desire without discipline will never, ever produce the fruits of joyous success. Discipline leads to perseverance, and perseverance leads to character; and that's what bodybuilding is truly all about: becoming the best person - body, mind and spirit - that you can be.

I too have that look. One time I had a 4 pak because the other side of my abs were so much lower than the other. Now I have a clear 5 pack but still not a six pack look because the other side is much lower than the other. Just have to do lower ab workouts and just burn the living hell out of the abs in general to get any "6 pack" looks. It's crap looking, but what's ya gonna do for your geens.

It goes much beyond that though, that wouldn't make them competely off like cutlers. Its muscle insertion points more than anything.

Yah get the hips checked out. My abs are uneven with different ranges of motion if i work them with twists because my rib cage is all screwed up on the left popping out a bit which also interferes with the left upper abs... Whateva having visible abs beats not having visible abs IMO.

I have the same problem man, my right side abs don't come in nearly as much as the left side. I am just trying to work them enough to get both sides showing somewhat the same amount.

it may be genetics that have an effect on it. but i think you can change it. stand in front of a mirror and lean, turn, raise or lower one or both of your arms and you should see your abs as well as everything else moving. i'm sure you'll be able to figure out a way to stretch that would eventually move your muscles into a configuration that you like.

since people are right of left handed, you tend to do things, lean, etc. biased towards a certain direction all the time. these things all contribute to your spinal and muscular alignment. there are so many muscles for your abs, its hard to control all of them individually and make sure they contribute equally, wouldn't you agree? also think about this, everyone always runs counterclockwise on a track never clockwise, would that not have an affect in some way on the development of your body?

never give up, i dont believe its genetics and even if it is you should still fight it. next people are going to say having a bigger right bicep than left is genetics too.

    Thumbs up Uneven abs

Everyone complains about their uneven abs and mostly if you're abs are notched but still the same size, it's most likely genetics.

For me I used to have perfect abs when I played soccer, now I'm 17 and my abs don't look perfect. My abs are not uneven but some individual ab muscles are different sizes in height I'm pretty sure this is because I quit soccer a few years ago but have worked out since. Sooo . . . most likely my bench pressing form was uneven thus making some of my abs different sizes. . . The way I'm going to try to fix this is by starting to run again and just going to the park and playing soccer in the morning. This will tone my abs and in time they will even out.

Moral of the story if you're complaining about uneven abs that are not caused by genetics you probably had bad form working out or just didn't exercise for a period of time. Run every morning for 20-40+ minutes and in no time you will have even abs like you once had. If you still want to workout after you have evened out your abs make sure that you use proper form and everything should work out ok.

    * make sure if you are doing cardio to keep your heartrate up for atleast 20 minutes *

I was told somewhere that 20 minutes was the minimum for how long you need to keep your heartrate up for during cardio.

Hopefully I helped some people that were having the same problem. . .

Pretty normal. I have the same problem, and nobody notices/cares. Don't pay attention to photoshopped images of bodybuilders in magazines and advertisements (yes, many images are 'shopped/airbrushed).

Hopefully I helped some people that were having the same problem. . .
You bumped an old ass thread for this non sense?

    Uneven abs

Yeah, I do as well, as you can see from my profile picture, I would rather have that nice line up abs but, I have grown to embrace it rather than let it bother me/try to fix it (which I believe to be impossible). Every body is different and once we realize that, then we can move forward to making our "own" the best it can be.
