Of course you can gain mass on your tri's, I've trained as have many others push/pull most of my lifting time and it works best for me and I do chest/shoulders/tri's all on the same day
I train push/pull because I like to hit everything more than 1x a week so it allows similar muscle groups to recover quicker, however your goals and training might be different and splitting them up might work better
Your tris are going to grow as long as you are maximal stimulating those muscle fibers. It doesnt matter whether its with chest, shoulders, by themselves, or hell...even legs. Just make sure you allow there to be change in your workout routine about every 4-8 weeks.
