Congrats to Raikonen, if anyone had to win it beside Hamilton, id have prefered Raikonen.

That said, for Hamilton to drop to 18th because of his engine cutting out, then getting right back to 7th (on 3 pit stops too) was brilliant driving, shame he had to lose the championship because of the engine problem.

good race, bad outcome. he set himself back on the first lap when dropping to 8th then to 18th with the engine problem.

great win for raikkonen. he deserves it

great drive by hamilton. i think in the years after this hamilton will be best. not to mention he is very entertaining to watch, very good at passing and usually has the balls to go for them.

McLaren blew it in China, letting Hamilton stay out on crap tires.

Kimi only won because Ferrari ILLEGALLY got Massa to let him by, although it was cleverly disguised during the pit stops

    Wow.

News just breaking that stewards are investigating fuel irregularities with rosberg/heidfeld and kubica who finished 4/5/6th. The investigation is around the temperature that their fuel was stored at, and if its found to be not what it should have been, would indicate they had an unfair performance advantage given that they would be faster as a result of the different fuel temp (and because it'd be denser, they can refuel their cars slightly faster or with slightly more fuel), and thus they could actually be disqualified, which would make Hamilton the champion!

    ill update when i can.

Seen it on BBC news24, itll prob be on bbc website too.

I think its more likly that if found guilty, theyll get constructor points taken from them.

There has been something similiar in the past with Coulthard and Schumacher, there fuel was found to be slightly different than what it should have been (mixture wise) and they where DQd, but later had that DQ overturned when it was found they gained no performance advantage from it.

This is slightly different because it could give them an advantage, and the stewards have moved people back on the grid, and DQ'd people for lesser things, so if they wanna be consistant, they'd have to DQ them, but then taking the trophy off Raikonen after hes been presented with it, would make F1 look like a joke, so i dunno, its all up in the air atm!

I found it on their site now http://www.formula1.com/news/headlin...7/10/7023.html

Clearly states they could be DQ'd, so I'd assume if they find them guilty, they'll be DQing them. It'll definatly be an interesting twist whatever happens...

That would just be a cap to all the terrible decisions the FIA has made this year. Hamilton killed his championship hopes himself, Raikkonen doesn't deserve this.

McLaren killed Hamilton's hopes, not Hamilton.

And Kimi only won because Massa was ordered to surrender the lead. Without the team orders, Kimi couldn't have caught Massa.

So to be fair - ignoring the current investigation - Alonso should be World Champion right now.

    How did Hamilton kill anything?

China wasn't his fault, if the team brought him into the pits when they should have, this championship would have been wrapped up weeks ago. And his engine cutting out today wasnt his fault. If he gets this title, its not under the best circumstance no, but he does deserve it given how hes driven this year.

actually in china he knew his tires were going and he was already pitting but didnt bother being careful in the rain and ended up in the gravel

Thats kinda' near here nor there, though. The team could see them deteriating for atleast 3 laps before they called him in, his lap times dropped dramatically and alonso caught right upto him. The team admited it was because they wanted to get the absolute max out of them so he could pit at the right time, and win the race, rather than relaxing and just finishing top 5 for good points.

And saying he didnt bother being careful is nonsense really. The guys been driving competitavly since he was 8 years old, hes not THAT stupid. He was taking it carefully, but thats the beauty of hindsight, we can look back and rib him for not going a tiny bit slower, and thats also what happens when you put a gravel trap in one of the most dangerous areas of a race track, i bet its not there next year.

And if he had have made it into the pits, we wouldnt even be discussing this, he'd be world champion by now.

Yeah, I know. Its a moot point now unless via DQs he ends up winning now... we ll have to wait and see..

annnd if raikkonen is gets his championship taken away the fia will be officially a joke. he probably will, bernie and max just cant get enough of hamilton, they will probably try to influence this dicision.

face it guys, hamilton lost his title fair and square. him and his team took too many gambles when there was no need to. and they didnt pay off. and massa helping kimi..who cares team orders have always been used in f1 always will be, and i dont see why they are illigal..f1 is a team sporot anyways. i dont think there is another motorsprot that illigalizes team orders.

if i was a himlton fan id hate to see him win in a court room.

kimi deserved this championship more than anyone and won it fairly, even with two DNFs earlier in the season. period.

EDIT: eh ignore my rant lol its all chill kimi still WDC

So you say Hamilton lost fair and square, then say Kimi/Massa had team orders? Nice contradiction.

As a fan of all 3 (Hamilton/Alonso/Kimi), the person who should be pissed most right now is Alonso. 100% fair and square, Alonso should be champion right now. (Ignoring the current investigation) Massa woulsve won the race, Kimi 2nd, Alonso 3rd. Alonso should be champion. Theres no denying the fact that team orders won Kimi the title, without them, he wouldnt be champion, therefore proving Kimi couldnt win it without his teammate letting him win.

Whether you like it or not, team orders are illegal. If they were allowed, it would make the sport into a joke. Do you really want to see a repeat of Barrichello slowing down and letting Schumacher overtake him on the line? Or havent you been watching F1 that long? Team orders destroy seasons, and disrespect the sport IMO.

The fact that F1 appointed an official to make sure McLaren showed no favouritism, but DIDNT do the same for Ferrari is a joke.

Bulker, I do agree with you about Alonso deserving it today, I'm a huge fan of his. However, there are a million ways Ferrari could have orchestrated Raikkonen taking 1st, there's really no way to keep team orders 100% out. McLaren would have done the same thing if the situation was reversed. And about Hamilton, personally I believe he should have known better than to drive at that speed into the pit entrance last race on shredded tires in the wet, regardless of what his team said. I doubt the more experienced Alonso or Raikkonen would have made that mistake. He also lost his cool a bit today, swerving and locking up after Alonso passed him, but to be fair that wouldn't have cost him the championship by itself. But everyone has mechanical failures, that's the way it goes. Kimi has had some horrible luck himself over the years, I'm glad some good finally came to him.

does it make a difference if its done in a subtle way or not? no matter what team orders will always be there and have always been there.

if you cant police them whats the point in making them illigal.

I agree, these technicalities are getting out of hand. And the governing body doesnt seem to have consistent punishments, they need to wright a proper rule book before next season.

seriously this whole mess is because the fuel was a few degrees colder than the minimum allowed. why is there a minimum fuel temperature rule in the first place. sometimes it seems like the f1 rule book is more complex than most countries laws

Because cooler fuel gives you a number of performance advantages.

a/ it makes you faster for a number of laps before it gets to ambient temperature.

b/ you can refuel your car faster. (because cooler fuel is more dense)

c/ you can fuel the car more.

Theres rules for a reason, and i see no problem with McLaren taking this to court. I don't care if lewis becomes champion over this or not. The FIA doing nothing about this actually makes them look like more of a joke than if they would have punished them. My guess is at best, they'll get constructors points docked. Which given the decisions theyve made againt McLaren over the season, and against drivers/team in general, would be fair.

Like i said, doing nothing about it is making them look worse than if they did something

colder fuel= slower reaction. theres a reason why in competetive truck pulling (yes thats a sport down south lol) they use fuel HEATERS

liquids do not condense very much basic physics. not much is going to be gained, and if it is it will be negligible.

again liquids do not condence much. difference will be negligible. on the other hand the car will be heavier as well with more fuel. and whens the last time youve seen an f1 filled ot the brim?

i agree dock the WCC points. maybe even a fine. but making Hamilton champion in the courtroom will be way worse for the sport than just neglecting these minor infractions.

Eddie jordon, former F1 team owner:

"If you put chilled or cool fuel into a car you get between 5 and 10 horsepower increase,"

"Now that is a significant amount and would be enough to exclude a car if it was found to have done so, but I am not sure at this late stage how you can actually get that proof."

    On Ron Dennis

"I've spoken to McLaren about this and they says it is a point of principle, it's not merely about the championship, but they don't understand the logic behind the stewards' decision.

"McLaren say if the rules have been broken then they should be punished."

    Damon Hill:

"If you go back to the beginning of the season, McLaren's argument is that Ferrari won the very first race using a device which was later found to be illegal by the FIA.

"They removed it but the result stood.

"It's very unsettling to have this appeal, but there is so much at stake and the FIA have to find somehow a way of being consistent.

"I can see how a couple of degrees fuel temperature can be regarded as being so negligible that it wouldn't make any difference.

"But we're talking about such tiny differences all the time in Formula One, there has to be a line where you're one side or the other."

Lets just turn the tables a minute, and for one moment imagine it was McLaren found to have their fuel upto 14 degrees C below ambient temp. given them even the slightest of advantages (wether it had no baring on the race whatsoever or not).

There would be uproar about how they are cheating c*nts.
