    Yep exactly,

I dont know why Lewis slowed as much as he did, but it certinly didnt cause the crash, Webber could have carried on going as normal (at the time, presuming Hamilton had engine issues), and if Lewis gets back up to speed, he lets him back in 1st place before the race goes live.

Like i said before too, Vettel admitted in an interview that his eyes were on Hamilton as he was at an almost stop, he was thinkin he had engine problems, and as far as anyone knew at the time, he could have. but wether he did or didnt, Webber shouldnt have slowed so quickly, and Vettel should have had his eyes on Webber, given how close he was to him in those slippy conditions.

If Hamilton is knocked back 10 places this weekend, even if he gets pole in qualifying hes gunn start at 11th at best. :[

I would be fken ecstatic if he still won

If it is the case though that he starts from 11th or so, he just needs to get up a few places into the scoreing points area and he should still have an ok lead going into the last race in Brazil (presuming Alonso is 1st this weekend)

eh i think he should get a fine for the ridiculous erratic driving behind the safety car..just a slap on the wrists..on example that you cant do this kinda ****.

but no penalties for the race..punishment too harsh for this

so chances for rain this weekend

    predictions? im thinking

    Raikkonen
    Massa
    Heidfeld

I think Gordan will take it, He has won at talledega twice and will pull way ahead after this week.

What complete bull****. Hamilton didnt cause the crash. If he gets anything more than a fine then theres some serious bull**** going on here.

If he gets points stripped or has to start 10th on the grid for the next GP, because erratic driving, then I'll be shocked.

ESPECIALLY when you consider Alonso got NO individual punishment despite the fact he was proven to be using the data McLaren stole from Ferrari.

Well, a fine wouldn't be too bad.

But that said, Hamilton was only doing what any driver does in a safty car situation. The speeding up and slowing down before the safty car has gone, is to keep tire/break temperatures right (as long as the guy in pole stays within 5 car lengths of the safty car, hes well within his right), every driver does it whatever their position (you see it oftern especially in the wet).

The inncodent in question, Hamilton dropped more than 5 car lengths behind the safty car BUT he was on a different line to Webber, so there was no worry of Webber ploughing into the back of him. Like i said, webber should have just carried on going as he was, if Hamilton dropped due to engine problems, then Webber takes pole, if not, then Hamilton catches up and Webber lets him get back in pole before the race goes live. So i really dont know why Webber slowed right down, and i dont know why Vettel was right up behind him in the first place (given the driving conditions).

Hamilton did not cause this crash, Webber slowed, Vettel was too close to Webber anyway AND (admittedly) wasnt paying attention to Webbers car the moments before the inncodent - I hope the FIA take THAT into consideration.

When he was doing it during the 1st safty car when Alonso was behind him is a different situation, when the safty car has gone, its down to the guy in pole to decide when it goes live, and he was toying with Alonso in order to gain a bit of a lead on the main straight - Thats been going on for years and its not really even frowned upon.

Well, apparantly there was never any official complaint made by Webber.

and the stewards have said they have never once said Hamilton was under investigation, that its all just been spun by the media. I think they have called the 3 drivers in to just have a word, but Hamilton should be all clear.

    Edit:

So its just been on the news that Hamiltons been given the green light, no penalties!

Hamilton threatend to quit the sport had he been punished for something as rediculous as that, especially since Vettel admitted being distracted and not looking at Webber infront of him.

Anyway, as it stands in practice for this weekend, top5:

    Raikonnen
    Alonso
    Massa
    Hamilton
    Trulli

justice was definately done with no punishment, could be a british world champ in the rookie year! pretty amazing. I'm not too bothered about the nationalities but I much prefer hamiltons attitude to alonso or raikonen.

Nah....heavy rain just means the safety car comes out, and makes the race boring (like the first 20 laps last week for example). Also increases the dangerousness tenfold.

If by "action" you mean "crashes", thats hardly a good thing....

rain races are exciting, but when you weigh up the danger with the excitement, it doesnt seem so exciting. i always think a bit of rain in the mid section mixes things up though

Glad to see common sense prevailed and Hamilton wasn't punished.
    Alonso is a spoilt brat.
Vettel is a noob but I feel sorry for him.

    /Opinion

Here in Aus we're not getting the race broadcast live, I think due to the rugby world cup. Anyone know where you can get a live stream of the race on the internet?

    Edit: little update..

"Toro Rosso's Sebastian Vettel has been demoted five places for Sunday's race after stewards overturned a 10-place penalty given to him at last weekend's Japanese Grand Prix."

"Vettel had qualified 12th after stewards initially lifted a 10-place penalty imposed for causing a collision in last week's race."

    What a fken joke!

Hamilton gets a DNF because of a stupid team decision.

He had a perfect qualifier, then in the race he was leading it comfortably for most of it (a good 8-9second lead over Raikkonen), then his tires start getting very bald, quickly, his average lap time drops dramatically and he starts sliding all over the place, looses his 8second gap over 2nd place Raikkonen, and the team didnt even call him in to change his tires . And when they finally did (at which point you could actually see bits of the canvas underneathe the rubber), he ended up sliding into a Gravel-Trap on the entrance of the pit-lane and getting beached. WTF

And what fking bright spark puts a gravel trap on the entrance of a fken pit lane, thats dangerous, cars need to be able to get out of that area if they crash, so it dosnt get in the way of the entire race/stop cars from pitting.

Anyway, Alonso finished in 2nd, which means that if Alonso wins in Brazil in 2 weeks, Hamilton needs to finish in 2nd to win the championship. If Alonso finishes anywhere but 1st, Hamilton needs to finish anywhere in the top 4 to win the championship.

Anyway, back luck for Lewis. I swear, if Alonso takes the championship this year im going to be sick.

At least the final race will be a good one

    Well, its not all over.

Like i said, Alonso can only win it if he:

a/ finishes inside the top 4 and Hamilton gets another DNF
b/ finishes 1st place and Hamilton finishes less than 2nd place.

For Raikonnen to win it he needs to finish in atleast 2nd place and with Alonso/Hamilton finishing less than 5th.

Hamilton is going into the last race with a 4 point lead so the ball is still in his court.

People act like he's just burst onto the racing scene or something. The guys been owning car racing since about the age of 9, working his way up through the ranks all the way to F1 were he still continues to own the place. It's got nothin to do with luck.

It may have been his mistake sliding into the gravel trap, but that wouldnt have happend had the team not kept him out on track for about 3 laps leading upto the inncodent with blatently fked tires, but they where trying to get it just right, with the weather raining, then stopping, then raining then stopping, timing was everything, to chose when to pitt him and change to the appropriate tire.

That said, other drivers had already changed tires and they seemed to work ok, and Hamilton only needed to finish in the top4 or so to win the championship, so the team needn't be so strict about his tire choices and trying to be bang-on time with his pit, even if he'd finished in something silly like 8th, he'd have still got 1 point, which is 1 more point to help him in the last race of the season. Which is what annoyed me so much about it. But i guess they wanted him to actually win the race and thus win the championship in absolute style.

Whats funny is, if that had have been Alonso who had blatenly fked up tires and the team kept him out on the track regardless, and then he crashed as a result, there would be absolute uproar from Alonso and the F1 community about there being some big conspiracy against him. Hamilton just sucked it up, went to garage and shook everybodys hand and just said, well, what can you do?

I swear Hamilton is being ****ed over by Mclaren. Mclaren are being manipulated by Alonso. No matter what happens in this championship, i think Alonso has gotta leave and Hamilton has earned a lot of respect.

Alonso came to Mclaren expecting to be number 1, he wasn't expecting a young guy in his first season to completely dominate him. Come on Hamilton.
