9-5 baby! 8-0 win against the Bills.
We gotta travel to Kentucky (Cincinnati is NOT in the state of Ohio, I don't care what the geographical lines say) next week to take on the Bungles. I'm concerned about this game not only because it was so close the first time around, but the Bengals players AND their ****ing stupid annoying CLUELESS fans constantly say "The Browns game was where our season de-railed...we blame the Browns for that."
They've said it all the time whenever they have a national TV game, and I know I've heard it with my dealings with the Bungles fans from my college. They blame us, and they're gonna come after us with all their might.

cincinnati can talk all the **** they want. it'll be that much more glorious when we beat them a second time, this time without giving up 51 points of whatever it was.
let them come at us with all their might. they're defense isn't very strong, and as long as anderson doesn't use their safety as his hot route like he did to teams the first few weeks, and the arizona game, we'll walk all over them.
jamal is in the zone, running all over the place, despite a foot of snow, so if anderson does start tossing up turnovers, turn to lewis, let dawson deflect kicks, and win the game!
still the regular season...but the playoffs are in sight!!!

Man I'm so excited for tomorrow.
Walking around the city, everyone's in Browns gear, Brownsmania is in full effect. I love it! Meanwhile, in Cincitucky, Bengals fans are giving up their tickets to Browns fans, there will be over 25,000 Browns fans at the game. What bandwagon douchebags.

bumping this since it's the offseason, the Steelers have been eliminated, and best of all, the REAL Browns are back!!!!!!! So I'll include an article from Clevelandbrowns.com that sums up my thoughts PERFECTLY.
http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/article.php?id=8089
All in all, it was a success
Zac Jackson, Staff Writer
01.04.2008
It's been almost a week, time for emotions of all sorts to settle, time for the calendar to change and time to let it soak it in.
The Browns had a pretty good year.
Very good, in many regards. Not so good in others, and it's certainly disappointing that came up short of the playoffs. But the Browns won more games than just about anyone dreamed they would. They won many of them in thrilling fashion, too, and did so with a group of players who had breakout seasons and seem primed to take even bigger leaps in the future.
Sure, there are questions and problem areas; every team has those. But for the first time in a long time, the Browns have a core group of productive, veteran players and a core group of exciting young players. They have offensive linemen and playmakers, too, and we found out in '07 that if you have a good offensive line and a healthy roster, you've at least got a shot.
So to wrap it up, let's run through all the emotions -- and the big moments -- 2007 brought.
You're satisfied because 10 wins is as many as the Browns had the previous two years combined; three division wins is three times as many as they had in those previous two years and seven home wins seems like it's as many as they had the whole decade.
You're excited because a lot of these guys are young, and hungry, and talented. Another year of continuity (a word that finally applies to the Browns' plans) shouldn't do anything but help.
You're disappointed because the Colts didn't win last Sunday and the Browns didn't make the playoffs. But isn't your energy for '08 better placed in focusing on beating the Steelers (twice would be fine) than the Colts?
You're satisfied because the Browns rebounded nicely from hitting rock bottom in Week One. They scored points by the boatload, forced defenses to as much guessing as they did adjusting and past Week One, they were in every game until the final minutes.
You're excited because if Joshua Cribbs keeps even close to this pace, the defense keeps progressing and the offense can erase the slow start problem, having a playoff-contending team will be much more the norm than the exception.
You're disappointed, though, because you didn't want to be a playoff contender. You wanted to be in San Diego this weekend. And had just a couple plays in Oakland, Arizona and Cincinnati -- all very winnable games -- gone the other way, the Browns might be hosting a game.
You're satisfied because the Browns swept the Ravens, put together actual winning streaks for the first time in a long time and got some bounces and breaks to go their way. Good teams create their own breaks, but how overdue was this team for some good bounces?
You're excited because you're not only thinking about beating the Steelers and measuring up with the Cowboys, Colts, Giants and Jaguars, you're practically making reservations for Monday night games, Sunday night showcase games, maybe even a Thursday or Saturday. National attention. National respect. Finally.
You're disappointed because the Steelers' streak remains intact.
You're satisfied because the defense that struggled to cover anybody early in the season tightened up late in the season. They certainly didn't lose in Cincinnati or Arizona because of the defense.
You're excited because the Brodney Pool and Sean Jones you saw in the last 10 games should be the guys you'll see going forward; ditto Shaun Smith, who'll be even better when he settles into the system and one position. And Brandon McDonald and Eric Wright are only going to get better.
You're disappointed because teams still seem to run too easily on the Browns, and with the teams on the 2008 schedule, that's going to have to stop. You can't win 'em all 33-30, though it sure helps to have Phil Dawson on your side if you need to.
You're satisfied because Eric Steinbach is as good as advertised, Phil Savage is saying positive things about getting Derek Anderson and Jamal Lewis back, and Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow played like the top picks they are.
You're excited because Joe Thomas is only going to get better and stronger (especially playing next to Steinbach). Winslow and Edwards combined for almost 2,500 yards and neither one is even 25. Edwards and Cribbs (and probably some others) are going to the Pro Bowl and already making plans to go back.
You're disappointed because no smart team is ever going to kick to Cribbs again.
You're satisfied because the Browns won some games by passing 50 times, some by running 40 times and some by getting a little help from a lot of places and a few big plays from Cribbs, Lewis and Edwards. In the past, adjusting in December meant calling up guys from the practice squad and hoping to keep it close.
You're excited because the Browns have shown they're going to be active and aggressive in March and April, and you have to believe a winning team is going to attract top-level talent more easily than a four-win team.
You're disappointed because it isn't quite March yet.
You're satisfied because Cleveland Browns Stadium rocked, there were more happy Sundays than disgusting ones, the locker room is more full of good players and good people than it has been and there are real positives on which to build.
You're excited because the Browns are back.
In Cleveland, disappointment happens all too often. But this year, it in no way overshadows the excitement.GO BROWNS!

Anyone catch Family Night by any chance?
Shaun Rogers was dominating the interior of our OL, and our OL is good.
Derek Anderson looked a lot more accurate than he did last year.

Sat in the Dawg Pound for the first time. Some thoughts on the limited time we saw the starters in...
-This offense is gonna be tough to stop. Someone's going to be open every time it seems. Edwards and Winslow are too spectacular and Stallworth is too fast to single cover. That's 3 guys who command special attention. Travis Wilson appears to have the light come on. He looked beastly among the second unit, which is just fine for playing #3 WR with the first unit.
-Martin Rucker was another one who stood out to me as a man among boys with the 2nd unit. Expect him to rocket up the depth chart.
-I know we'll never see the entire 2nd string DL in a game...but we'd better pray we don't lose Shaun Rogers to injury...god forbid if we lost 2 DL. Our DL depth past the #4 guy is awful.
-Even worse, our CB depth past our #2 corner is awful as well. I hope we can swing a trade similar to the trade we got Hank Fraley with...
-WE WILL BE FINE WITH EITHER QB!
-There's a different air about this team this year. You can feel it in the air of the stadium. It's confidence and an expectation to win the AFC North and beat the Steelers.

Had to bring this thread back to life.
We beat Baltimore next week and we're back to .500. We can realistically win 3 of our next 4 and we'd be a 7-5 going into December.
That's exactly where I want to be in order to win this division or make the playoffs. Do I sound crazy thinking we're still in the division hunt? Maybe, BUT I still get this feeling that the Steelers will fade out based on their schedule and the fact that Roethlisberger is being a punching bag right now. It's only a matter of time before something in his body snaps and he squeals.
As the Joker says, I know the squealers when I see them and...*points at Big Ben*
Baltimore has been lucky with a relatively easy schedule up to this point, Flacco's inexperience will start to show against real opponents.
Of course, the Browns will need to play like they're capable of playing in order to win this thing. After beating the Giants we've proven we can beat anyone.GO BROWNS!

Thoughts on Eric Mangini?
This thing is not a long rebuild, i honestly think it's more of a retooling that we can do in one offseason.
I think our record up until we lost Anderson and Quinn is more indicative as to what we were against a brutal schedule. More of a 6-10, 7-9 team than a 4-12 joke.
It CAN be done, we just need to make the right moves. I think having some discipline and a tough training camp will make a HUGE difference in this team.GO BROWNS!

Epic bump to this as I admit to my own stupidity. But you know what? Lack of depth killed us in 2008. Who'da thunk Stallworth would get hurt, Jurevicius wouldn't come back, Robaire Smith would go down early, Martin Rucker would get hurt, etc?
I was right about the corner situation being horrific, and the depth at DL beyond Shaun Rogers being terrible. Bottom line, we had some top-end talent, but beyond that we lacked depth, and that killed us.
Enter 2009 under Mangini...look at the roster now compared to this time last year. We're gonna be a MUCH improved team.
Offense:
QB: Quinn/Anderson...Quinn enters his third year...this is boom or bust depending on this coming season.
RB: Lewis, Harrison, Davis (6th rounder)...Lewis now has a new toy to run behind in Alex Mack. The scouting report on Jamal is that he needs a strong center to run behind...well there ya go. I think Davis is going to be a huge 6th round addition to us.
OL: Solid...probably one of the best left sides in all of football. Thomas, Steinbach, Mack (1st rounder). Mack is going to learn and excel quickly playing along side a stud like Steinbach...RG's our biggest ??? but we added Womack and St. Clair to compete...Tucker's coming back at RT which is HUGE.
WR: Horrifying last season after Stallworth got hurt...not so horrifying anymore. Edwards is in a contract year, he'll be motivated by that. Robiskie (2nd round) can start right now as the #2...he's that polished. David Patten is a #3, and we brought in Massaquoi (2nd round) to hopefully be a solid #4 as a rook. Unlike last year where beyond #2 there was nothing...this year there are at least three legitimate targets...maybe 4 if Massaquoi develops quickly.
TE: Controversial, but I swear we'll be better off without Winslow. Why? We gain blocking and smarts. Rucker showed potential last season, Heiden is a pro's pro and so's Robert Royal.
Defense:
DL: A position with zero depth after the starters last season now becomes a unit with some real depth thanks to the additions of Kenyon Coleman and CJ Mosely. Unlike last year, we CAN suffer some injuries at this position and be ok...not that I'd like to.
LB: We added Barton in FA...we hope Alex Hall can emerge. I'm holding my breath on this one...I like the kid we drafted and hope he develops. Might be our biggest question marks.
CB: We loaded up with CB depth in the offseason and continued in the draft...somehow we're gonna end up with 4 legit corners on this unit this year...a far cry from the two last year.
Safety: Not exactly a strength, but we added Elam in that trade. I look at this position being a big time target next season. Cribbs might play back here too, which I think he would excel at.
Looking at this roster...it is MUCH better than it was even two days ago. I think we can do some damage in the North this year...I'm not blowing smoke.
Last year we had a solid starting 22...from 22 on back, we blew chunks. This year? there's some legitimate depth here.GO BROWNS!

Talkin bout how we are going to beat Denver. I cannot see them getting a lot of pressure on Quinn. We will find out this weekend wether Quinn is just a game manager or a kid with HIGH upside.
I could argue either way right now, but if he goes out and throw 2 picks and looks crappy. It is going to be a LONG season.(っ◕‿◕)っ
