Do you guys grunt or yell in the gym while workign out, I must say that when I do certain things such as Bench, Squats, Leg Press, and Curls, I usually always make some sort of noise lol. But I think we can all agree that some guys just seriously over do the yelling, just yelling out for no reason at all.

Theres one of those bench/curlers every day at my gym....
Curls w/ 15 pound dumbells
Dumbell Presses w/ 35 pound dumbells
Guys around 160 at 5'10
Screams on every rep.
If I see him I have to leave and come back or else it ruins my workout. Just can't stop laughing lol.Last edited by _Bladen_; 09-02-2007 at 08:07 AM.

lol little one here negged me for my post? And called a prick. OMG you hurt my feelings. Sorry but I kinda need to concentrate on my workouts with minimal distractions, trying to go pro in 2-3 years isn't going to be easy.
Sorry I don't have the approval of an immature 15 year old.
But yes, the ocassional grunt or random slurge of words but no screaming.

I try not to but sometime a small grunt will sneak out. I usually smile when I squat. I love what i see when I squat!

I rarely grunt and usually never yell. Just heavy breathing.
There was this one tool the other day who was squatting 1 plate on each side of the smith machine (so 105 pounds I think total) and he was making so much damn noise I almost yelled at him to shut up. Meanwhile I was doing stiff legged deads with like 315 and barely making a sound haha.6'1" 230 pounds of wannabee powerlifter

Lol I have a really funny story about something like this. Last summer my family went to Flordia for vacation. My cousins live there so we went to go visit. So me and my cousin go to the gym he goes to. So we're in there doing the do and this little nerdy ass ****er with sports goggles comes walkin in with this really tiny tank top. That was funny for us to see right there. This kid is about 100 lbs by the looks of it. He gets on the bench and starts lifting the ****n bar by itself with no weights. The kid is screaming to the top of his lungs. After about 7-8 reps he stops. We're just looking at each other. My cousin just walks over and looks at the kid at about a foot's worth of distance. Moment of silence...AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. He starts fake laughing as loud as he can. The kid was just like w/e man.

The only noise I make is on the final portion of my final reps on a heavy set of squats. Because that's the only time it just..comes out, lol. My breathing, however..is ear-piercing at the echo-y gym I lift at. (srs)
I find it just sends out the wrong vibes/why do it if you don't need too? I'd think actually flat-out yelling wouldn't even help, at all. When you're struggling having that air is really important.Highlights: http://www.youtube.com/user/bkbrawla666/videos
