    Weighted chinups (palms facing you)
Weighted pullups (palms facing away from you)
    Bent over rows
    T Bar rows

Put at least two of these into your back routine and you'll be all set.

pullups/chins/rack pulls and similar motions (although those are the best)

yea, <extreme> stretching may be beneficial for recovery and to encourage growth, but it is kinda debatable; all the research on it was taken from animals in extreme situations (e.g., birds having wings stretched for like 3weeks straight, 24/7).....so in humans and sparsely applied (i.e., not 24/7), i dunno.

sorry, this has probably been asked before, but how wide do you go on w/g chins, DD? I find it unnatural to do them w/ very wide grip...

I wouldn't worry too much about chins, focus more on pullups, chins work your biceps and shoulders a lot more than pullups do. Try weighted wide grip pullups, as wide as you can go preferably and you should start to sprout some wings.

exercises for lat width (in my opinion): [in decreasing importance]
    1) weighted WIDE GRIP pullups
    2) Wide grip lat pulldowns

the other exercises generally build up both thickness and width together.. if you're going for pure width increment.. these 2 would be the ones you want to look at. if you want width, go WIDE

They haven't been mentioned yet, so I am going to say Hammer Chins, worked better for me than anything else.

straight arm pull downs are great for upper lats,i always do 3-4 sets of 'em till failure,i actually started doing 'em just 3 months back and now i can see my upper lats even while i'm in a relaxed position.

You develop the upper lat muscles with Wide grip chins and pullovers. Also, the guy who said straight arm lat pulldowns is correct.

You need to stretch your shoulder blades out though. You could have NO lat muscles per se and still have an wide "lat" spread with flexible scapula

Try hanging from a chin bar with a super wide grip with 100 pounds strapped to your waist. Do this for as long as you can. Do it every training day, as it is a stretching exercise. Use straps.

Remember, Lat stretching is not the same as shoulder blade stretching. The lats are stretched more through NARROW grip exercises, the Scapula through WIDE grip exercises. You want SCAPULA.

Do it for a month then pm me with tears in your eyes thanking me.
