    what exactly is a "pump"

With all these nitric oxide supplements I keep hearing about how they give you "pumps". Can anyone explain what a pump is in newb terms? Thanks!

nope...Some may say that it allows them to focus more on the muscle being worked and others may have more mental strength when the look bigger but no scientific evidence (to my knowledge..if someone has a study, please post it)

it doesn't really do anything but it does dilate your blood vessels overall, which should allow for more nutrients to be transported to your muscles, but i'm not sure. the thing is that most NO products contain other substances that give you heaps of energy, so don't think they're worthless. personally i love the stuff....either superpump 250 or noexplode

i'm pretty sure the "pump" has benefits... ugh i'm not gonna try and be scientific or sound smart, just gonna be straight. soooo when you have the "pump" sensation it means that more blood is in your muscle... which translates into more nutrients and fuel being rushed to the muscles vs. normal... which is why protein is good for post workout while the muscles are still open. yes. i know. PhD here i come.

Achieving the pump has been proven very anabolic. It does more than "just make your muscles appear larger to give you confidence." The pump is very important.

Sorry delg, but increase in Nitric Oxide production should in fact cause a larger pump. Why would every company market arginine as a pump supplement if that wasn't the case. It itself won't make you attain a pump on its own but it increases the capability of your body to create the pump during weight training.

Does it help flush nutrients to the muscles like assume it to? A lot of folks say no, some say yes. Research shows that all this is doing is possiby increasing peak sprint power and 1RM... other wise nothing, not differece inbetween control groups and arginine groups... Thus is why a significant amount of NO supplements contain caffeine which does have performance enhancement capabilities aong other things in them that help slightly.

Is it worth the money? If you buy it in bulk for cheap, yeah sure why not... buying stuff like noexplode shouldn't be for arginine though it should be for energy.

Wait is the "pump" when you workout your bicep for example and put your hand on it and feel the blood gushing through it?

uhhhh the reason behind nitric oxide and "the pump" is that more blood entering a muscle= more energy cause blood carries the nutrients to the muscles. Therefore a better pump= a better lift

If you buy it in bulk for cheap, yeah sure why not... buying stuff like noexplode shouldn't be for arginine though it should be for energy.
i have never had a pump from Nitric oxide ever. a pump to me was my muscles bulging more in size. the only times i retain a pump is from timing my workouts 1 - 1.5 minutes. never from taking any supplements.

    From Arnold

"The pump is the feeling you get when your muscles are about to bust out of your skin! That is the pump! To me, it feels like I'm Cumming!" I'm cumming at the gym, I'm cumming at home, I'm in heaven!"

it doesn't work with everyone, it really only enhances the pump for most, but for some it's not really noticeable. Personally I have to take a very high doseage to feel anything different during the workout.
