I have a small hernia right above my belly button, and its been hurting... when i say small i mean dime to nickel size, sticking out probably 1cm. the thing im worried about is scarring... anyone had a hernia on their abs, and had surgery?
i refuse to have a huge scar above my bellybutton

It will always hold you back and get worse if you continue to lift with it. I had one in a similar spot and the scar isn't bad at all. The recovery is fine just make sure you look for a doctor that specializes in LAPAROSCOPIC surgery.Originally Posted by Dasmeman

no its not... kid at my high school did a few years back. also it can cause strangulation. The kid died after workin out. He new that he had one and workouted and like ripped it more and he died that night.Originally Posted by mhschiefs97

well see, its been there all my life, and i can push it back in, so its not an emergency, just recently it has been aching after work outs. Anything outside of surgery i can do?

you have to get it looked at, i just had a small one and my friend also had one, my friends muscle wall kept tearing leaving the hernia to become about 2 inches by 4 inches and sticking out of the skin about half an inch. Hernias are serious and you should seek a doctor immediatly.
