I usually do most my posting in the R&P, but I jsut wanted to get a feel for what people out in MISC land, where the most traffic comes, feel about evolution.

my cat is sitting on my lap, she has a thumb that is useless and some other wierd asss finger looking thing highr on her two fron legs that are useless.

These apendages were probobly useful once, millions of years ago when they were fully developed or when her species was a sea dwelling creature, now they are not.

Of course I believe in evolution, it's a proven fact. However, I do NOT believe in spontaneous biogenesis, that life just happened to appear one day. Life comes from life.

I once had a conversation with a VERY avid Christian who believed every word of the Bible to be 100% accurate (he gave me the dimensions of Noah's Arc). There's really no way to debate someone so irrational, however, I found the most fascinating aspect of the conversation to be his attack on Carbon dating. He believed humans were less than 3,000 years old and that Dinosaurs roamed the earth 5,000-10,000 years ago, etc. Absolutely fascinating to meet someone consumed by his own shell of ignorance.

Evolution is NOT a proven fact. It's a theory still, which is close enough for me because theories are generally so obviously true that you can't really dispute them, but it isn't a FACT.

So you're saying modern humans just "happened"? That's fine if you're a creationist, but if not, you'll have a hard time arguing that evolution isn't a fact.

If you're saying that the idea that life evolved from the "primordial soup" isn't a fact, I'd certainly agree with you.

I completely agree with you; I strongly believe in evolution. I'm just saying it's not a true fact.
Theory = something that has a LOT of evidence for it but cannot be truly proven with our current scientific knowledge.
Like, as someone else said, gravity. I also believe in gravity.

i'm really religious and all but i still believe in evolution and the big bang. there is a lot of evidence for evolution (its happening right now omg!)

plus all the years in the bible are messed up. like adam lived for 600 years or something crazy like that. i don't know if its based of our calendar system it could be based off of a different one.
