    Too much protein makes you fat?

    Hey, I just had somebody saying that the protein that is not assimilated is stored by the liver as satured fat. Is this true?
    Goal:

    -Go up to 190 lbs until 30/05/05.

    Start>

    110 lbs 29/07/04.

    Currently>

    165 lbs

    too much of anything can be stored as fat. I keep it to 50 grams or under per meal.

    Yep, excess protein can be stored as fat. It really depends on the total caloric intake though that determines whether you gain or lose weight.
    If you want it bad enough, you'll find a way.

    Yah, this is a common misconception that the body can't store protein as fat and just excretes it, but that's not true (from all the stuff I've read anyway). The body stores excess protein in the exact same was as it would excess carbs or fat, the only difference is that it expends more energy turning the protein into fat than if you just ate straight fat to begin with.

    it would take a ****pile worth of protein to make you fat. back when i started out, i ate about 550 grams of protein a day...and lost weight. dont make the same mistake i did though, it'll get you nowhere.
