bed time meal cottage cheese vs. yogurt?

hi guys, my bed time meal is:
    1/2 cup cottage cheese
    5.5 g of fiber
    1 scoop of whey
    1 sccop of flax seed
i know this is a good combination but is it okay if i substitue 1/2 cup plain non fat yougrt instead of cottage cheese, only because i want to mix things up a little. its getting too repetitive. rep points for quality answers.

    thank you

Just keep in mind that yogurt is going to have less protein and more carbs than cottage cheese. That said it's fine aslong as it fits your diet

yogurt as a substitute would be fine, but not optimal. Cottage cheese is one of, if not the slowest digesting protein source out there for bed-time. Yogurt does have casein protein too, but cottage cheese has more. It is up to you though as both are FINE choices for bed time, maybe do a combo of both?

It's fine but remember that yogurt has more sugar and carbs plus less protein than cottage cheese. IMO cottage cheese is a better option..just "spice" it up a bit. I like adding a tbsp of natty pb and 1/2 scoop of chocolate or toffee whey, then stir it up and throw it in the freezer for 2-3 hrs...very good! Prolly favorate meal of they day for me.

thanks for the info guys. i think i am going to eat
    1 cup yogurt
    1 tbs flax
    fiber
    whey
    amino acid tablet
and alternate it with what i have got now

p.s. i thought about a good way to take zma, if u wake up to pee then take one then go back to bed. The Lord helped me figure out that dilema.

i would have either more cc or yogurt over the whey. even though you have fats, fiber, and casein protein in there that will slow down absorbtion it will still be absorbed faster then what you want. it seems like an expensive investment.

yes, it is imperial measuremeant. A scoop may not be, but generally a scoop of protein is 23 grams.

Im sure you could google up a conversion chart pretty easily

I eat a bowl of nonfat plain yogurt with mixed nuts and/or berries before bed.

FYI, all nutritional information for yogurt is taken from the ingredients prior to the fermentation of the product. Lactic acid bacteria, such as lactobacilli, break down carbohydrates and produce lactic acid and short chain fatty acids during fermentation. I don't know how many carbs remain, but it is certain that the number of carbs listed as sugar are fewer than what is listed on the label.

That's very intersting. Just curious, what kind of yogurt do you buy? I have been getting the yoplait low-carb stuff cus it has the least amount of sugar.

Dannon nonfat plain yogurt is good. I usually buy the store brand because it tastes the same and is cheaper. I buy the 32 oz plastic tub. I eat at least 2 per week.

I wish I could find out what the final grams of sugar count is for plain yogurt. This comes up all of the time on these boards. Perhaps Yoplait is just showing an after fermentation figure. Whatever the count is, it sure doesn't taste sweet.
