no, never. its a good way to get hurt, and you get nothing out of it. if you are being strength tested, go ahead. but if getting bigger and stronger is your goal and you're mature enough to handle not being able to answer "yo how much u bench?", then there is no reason to max out.

did it ever occur to you guys that maybe some people workout for strength too?
i max about once every 3-4 months"My problem is that my parents are here and so is my brother. It will look kind of suspicious with me walking into the bathroom with a frozen chicken breast. We have no salmon here either, but I can get the salmon fillets this weekend and stick it in my ass on Monday morning when everyone is gone.
I don't mind sticking the fish in my ass (no homo) its just getting it past my parents that's going to be the delay."

I have been lifting seriosuly for a year and I have never found my 1RM. I don't see the point in it...I really don't care to tell some random person, "Oh, I can bench XXX". I rather just spend my time in the gym working on my rotuine.
