2000 calories a day to much?? **REPS**

Im 18, i weight about 157lb at about 13% BF, i want to cut to maybe 10% for my holiday to get a bit more definition.

ANyway i thought my maintenance was about 2550 so i eat around 2000 calories per day, but now i just did another calculation and it says my maintenance is 2020 calories per day, so im not sure how much to eat!

    Stats:
    Height - 5ft 10.5
    Weight - 157lb

I go the gym and lift, then do 20 mintues low intensity cardio on monday, tuesday, thursday and friday, then on wednesday and sunday i do 40 minutes low intensity cardio..

I would bet that you're maintenance is alot more than 2020 with your cardio listed

ur maintenance calories arent 2020 calories,u maybe posted ur RMR instead, and 500 caloric dificit is too much for ur weight and body fat%,I'll aim for only 200-300 caloric dificit if ur goal is to drop only 3% of ur body weight...

I would take your stats and put them in that link i gave you, and then put in how active you are to get your maintenance cals, and then eat apr. 300 to 500 less than that to cut. Also keep your protein up and sodium down.

2550 seems about right, eat about 2200 calories and take ur measurments after 2 weeks,or even better after 1 month ,then adjust by decreasing or increasing calories,u shouldnt lose more than 1.5 lbs u r concerned about ur hard gained muscles.

My maintenance is the same as yours 2500, but im actually gaining weight and losing fat passed 170 pounds on saturday, aint been that heavy in over a year.

But im only eating 2000 calories a day, which is so dam odd to me, i do lose weight then when i have a carb up my weight jumps up and i look leaner then ever, so i guess im building muscle on carb up days 2 X a week at 2700 calories and lose fat on 2000 calories low carbs the rest of the week.

Still seems odd how im gaining (Confused)

Not to throw you off, but if you used your lean body weight X 13 calories method, your calories would come out to 1776.

    157 * 87% = 136.59

    136.59*13 = 1776

That seems low though. I think this method works best for people are severley overweight.

IIRC, doesn't this equation just give your Resting Metabolic Rate, without considering any activity you do during the day?

Trial and error work good in determining ur maintenance levels, what u get by calculators are just guidelines, there are many factors which arnt included in many calculators including genetics and age.

As I told u eat 2200-2300 calories and re-adjust if needed
