i can do everything right as a reciever run a great route juke the db's but as soon as the pass comes i can't catch it it bounces right off my hands now don't get me wrong i catch some of the hardest catches, something that looks like it's in the nfl but as soon as the easy passes come i just drop them it just bounces off my hands instead of softly landing there, any help would be appreciated

Took me a while to get over "hard hands" but I figured out what was wrong. Everytime when I knew it was a pass I would get nervous always thinkin in my head "I gotta catch this" and when they threw the ball I'd try really hard to catch it if you know what I mean, needless to say I usually dropped it. You gotta relax and let the ball come to you. Catching in my opinion is mostly mental.

ok for your hands to be "soft" you need to be able to follow the natural path of the ball. It's a physics concept the longer it takes some thing to stop, in football terms the softer. It's like a boxer throwing a punch at a guys face if he stands there he gets knocked out but if he moves his head back with the fist he is able to stay up.

Use moisturizer
Just playin. I'm no wide reciever or anything, infact, my hands aren't even all that good, but I would say that repetitions would help. Try to get someone to throw to you and catch balls. Perhaps your school has one of them ball throwing machines? If so, use that. It'd probably be best though to catch with your quarterback, to get used to his touch I guess so that'd probably be one of the best things for you. Anyway, bottom line is practice catching to get good at catching. My Neurostim+C Orange Pineapple Log:

It would be great if you could run routes with your Qb. Because not only are you training to catch the ball better you are also working on some chemistry between you and your Qb. If you do this enough you will be able to anticipate what the other will do. Not only will theis make you 2 better but it will help out your team.

Get a QB and try this one. Stand about 10-15 yards from him facing away from him. Get him to yell left, right, forward or stop, either one cause thats where he will throw the ball. And turn and Catch it! I think its a good one for hands and reaction time. (Forward is you dont turn around you run forward turn and locate the ball)

Well it seems like you have the physical abilities to catch a football pretty easily since you can come up with the hard catches. It might just be that you have a lack of concentration for the easy routes and passes that are thrown to you. You are able to catch the hard balls, maybe this is because you are able to focus more on those passes. A lot of people drop easy balls because they focus on everything but catching the ball, like where they are going to run or where the defense is.
ANother thing that could help is getting your hands up early and cushioning the ball as mentioned earlier.
